MOMMY FROM MARYLAND! ? ON P T
MY DAUGHTER IS 16 MONTHS OLD I BOUGHT HER A POTTY AND ITS SITTY IN THE BATHROOM DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM "THE BIG PEOPLES POTTY" LOL. WHEN I GO POTTY SHE SITS ON HER POTTY ON Q NOW. AND WE BOTH CLAP. BUT SHE ALSO PLAYS WITH HER POTTY SEAT NOW AND BRINGS IT INTO THE LIVING ROOM. I TELL HER NO, AND HAVE HER PUT IT BACK IN THE BATHROOM. BUT WAS THIS A BAD IDEA?. WAS MY BUYING THE POTTY EARLY A BAD CHOICE? AM I JUST MAKING THIS POTTY TRAINING THING HARDER ON MY SELF OR EASIER?

I think you are doing just fine. I use to get excited whenever one of my girls use to go on their potty. I would clap, jump up and down just to let them know they did right. So, as far as you making her put the potty back, that's ok, because you are teaching her how to respect bathroom priveledges. Just don't scold or punish her...Just say it nicely like " yes that is your toilet, but we have to keep it private in the bathroom, so be a good girl and put it back where it belongs" and then praise her. I taught my daughters young too. They let you know by going to the bathroom on it when they are ready....so don't push it or stop it....you are doing great.......What a good mommy you are!

I agree, you are doing the right thing. We bought a potty for our daughter who is now 2 1/2 when she was 18mos old, she was very interested for awhile, then wanted nothing to do with it, then was interested and started wearing training pants then stopped and now is in training pants permanently. I thought that when we started at 18mos she would be potty trained quickly, just dont get discouraged if it takes some time. You cannot push toddlers (they are so strong willed HAHAHA) Good luck...
