Hello my name is Amber I am a SAHM my oldest started kindergarten this year. He has not been formally diagnosed with sensory integration disorder but I started having suspicions when he was about two years old. In the past I have raised concerns with our doctor but she has brushed them off as childhood phases. We have recently moved and I am not as familiar with the American health or school systems. Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to what activities at home and in the community we can do and when to push for additional help?
Now that he is in school it is uaually easier for you to get a full eval done thru the school. You just need to send a note to the sup of schools cc the principal of your sons school. State his name what you are asking and why you are asking for this. It is something that they are then on a time constraint to complete. Then if they find issues that effect the school day they need to address them. If they do not effect the school day/learning then you have the information to get your ped to get the referals you need.
