My Child's Id Card

Recently my son's day care hosted an event where parents could have ID cards made for their children. At first I thought why would I need an ID card for my son. He's only 19 months. Why would he possible need an ID card. Regardless, I looked into it. The purpose of the card is that if you should ever get separated from your child, whether at the park, grocery store, or any where else, you have a current picture of your child with all of their important information on it. You would just give the card to the authorities, and it would hopefully help them to find your child. The front of the ID cards includes a picture of your child, along with information such as name, weight, height, hair color, eye color, birth date, medical alert information, and the parents contact information. The back of the card has a thumb print of your child to help authorities to identify your child.
I realize that most of us moms know the information that is listed on the card by heart, but in a bad situation it might be hard to relay the info to authorities. And what if your child is with a babysitter, or a family member? Would they know all of the information to give to the authorities if any thing every happened? So I decide to have a few ID cards made, just in case. My husband and I each carry one in our wallets, and any time some one watches my son for me, I give them a card. Just in case, you never know.
A few people have shown interest in having ID cards made for their children. The owner of the company will be at the Streamwood Police Department from 3:00-6:00pm on October 6th. Anyone interested in having an ID made for their child, please attend. The ID's only take a few minutes to make, so it won't take very long.
Please feel free to bring along a friend, spread the word about this event. Every one is welcomed. The more people, the better. Please mention any guest that you will bring in your RSVP, along with the amount of children that will have cards made.
