Hello Jaimie and welcome to the group :). Play is the most important during these early years. They really do learn a lot. So are you planning for her to go to preschool? If you are what age are you going to put her in? Are you looking for advice to get her prepared for preschool or are you wanting to do it at home? Either way don't feel to stressed. She will learn a lot just through play...I hope to get to know you better :). |

thank you for welcoming me i am planning on homeschooling her for preschool and maybe her early years of school because the school system we live in is not that great. I hope that i can get some nice ideas and plans to do with her. she is really intrested in learning and i want to take advantage of that so maybe as she gets older she will love school. right now she is really into nature, puzzles, shapes, the alphbet and numbers, and she loves to learn the names of animals and the sounds that they make, she also likes to act like them. She can already count to ten and she can draw a circle and a square. |

It sounds like she is doing wonderfully! I only want to caution you not to push her too much. I did that at the start with my oldest and boy was that a headache LOL. Now things are smoother for us and thankfully he still loves to learn.
Honestly it really sounds like she is doing great. Keep at what you are doing. Counting things is great for the first steps to math. When you are out and about point things out to her. Say something like see that big letter up there? That's the letter B and it says /b/. I did this when my oldest was really young. You can do the same with numbers if you see a number just tell her what it is. You can do this with a lot of different things as you are home or out and about.
When she is older (or ready which ever) you can try and teach her more of her letter sounds at www.starfall.com it's been a great site for the boys. It's interactive and really shows how the letters should sound. There is also worksheets you can print off for free. Also there is stuff you can buy at a reasonable price but you don't have too for your daughter to learn.
Ok, I am still trying to wake up so if none of this makes is sense ignore me LOL. I need my second cup of coffee LOL. Again welcome to the group :). |

Like Jody said: play is the most important learning activity for children this age. When I worked in day care and preschool, we got a lot of good ideas from the Mailbox Magazine - you can Google it and find what they have online. I don't know of any homeschool resources that have a curriculum for preschool because the accepted practice is learning through play and following their interests. Just keep doing what you are doing and you'll be fine. |
