| My son was born 8 weeks early. He was in the hospital for 5 1/2 weeks. He is currently on a monitor still. What is the typical length of time premies are kept on a monitor? He is also taking caffeine still, even though he hasn't had an episode for two weeks. |

Is the monitor to check his breathing?
My son had it at night for 4 months even if he never had an episode.

| We came home with a monitor.Most people hate it it was my best friend:) Considering that preemies are at increased risk for SIDS.We used it for as long as the strap was able to fit around my son's chest. |

| He is on the monitor for bradycardia (low heart rate) and apnea episodes. We haven't had any of these episodes since end of August. I'm hoping he can be off the monitor in the near future. |
