My almost 5 year old daughter has been taking ballet for a couple years and loves it and I am wondering if at this point I should be thinking about putting her in more advanced classes or stick with the fun ones that don't really teach technique. As soon as we get home she rips off her clothes, put on her tutu and turns on her boom box to play The Nutcracker so she can dance. I don't want to shortchange her but I also don't want to push her.

I say follow your daughter... if this is something she really loves, then why not put her in something more advanced. If she truly loves it, then she will take well to the advanced classes and if she does not take well, then you can always take her out. Good luck with your little ballerina!
