I think if Obama was so bad the Republican propaganda machine would have destroy him long time ago. I can understand why someone doesn't want to vote for Obama because of his program or of his vision but demonizing someone it is really unnecessary.

I have not seen the Republican propaganda machine try to destroy Obama or try to demonize him. I have however, seen the Democratic propaganda machine try to destroy and demonize Palin. I feel the Democrats must feel threatened by her. |

LOL - don't believe everything you see on YouTube...those videos would have you believe that Obama wants sex offenders running lose around town, prancing from strip club to strip club. Silliness. To make informed decisions on political issues, one must learn what the alternatives are to the votes...for example...why would Obama vote the way that he did on abortion?...there is a flip side...things aren't always black and white. Anyone can post slander...Be REALLY informed. I, as an American, am quite sick of the way elections are run. So is Barack Obama. I really hope he wins. |

TO ALL OBAMA SUPPORTERS: Can you please explain to me what the flip side of killing innocent babies is? As far as I'm concerned there is no reason why anyone in their right mind would vote in favor of this regardless of what other issues may be tied to it! It seems pretty black & white to me - either we save our innocent or we allowed them to be killed! |

What I'm saying is that a politician has an issue to vote "yes" or "no" on...there are certain reasons one would vote either way. You don't see all these reasons in those ads...you just see that Obama voted "NO" on a law that would allow "adult" clubs near a school. Sounds bad, right? Well, what if, by voting "no" on this law, Obama felt that not allowing this legal business to set up shop, it would be violating the legal business owner's constitutional right to do so. Obama didn't create strip clubs, and because it is legal, who is he to say where they can be? You follow? Where would it stop? No, I don't want a strip club near my playground, but until they are illegal, it's the business owners constitutional right to own his/her business...this is America. Obama surely doesn't want babies born alive only to die, but what if there was a loophole in the law, that if passed, would violate women's right to choose? It's not simple. There's more to it than "yes" or "no". |

The majority of his voting record he voted "present" which means he could not decide. The President has to make tough decisions. Obama is a good looking man, he can read a teleprompter very well. You can put lipstick on a community organizer, but that doesnt make him Presidential. |

McCain is a "fossilized dinasour". The back slapping flesh pressing old boy's poster maverick (NOT), and his neo nazi hockey puck VP nominee, has left lipstick on McCain's fly, as she sucks up to the goose stepping Fourth Reich!
These attack dogs hanging Obama from the nearest tree, and burning him in effigy is a symbol of their hate mongering, war mongering McBush regime (four years of the same).
The time is NOW to get your head out of the backside of the GOP cash cow (Special Interest and Big Business) and realize what REAL CHANGE Means. VOTE OBAMA NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was feeling lonely over here. :) Oh, and the teleprompter comment was pretty silly, now wasn't it? Did you know that most politicians (including McCain) use speech writers????? I'll give you one guess who wrote Barack's (praised) speech at the DNC...that's right, Obama himself. |

I watched this video, and was horrified by the venemous hate that this woman has against future President Obama.
This RN, Jill, is angry, sounding like a disgruntled employee who probably was fired for insubordination. She quotes from the Bible-what God wants her to do.
In actually, God is not a conscious force, meaning, he doesn't come out and say what he wants or doesn't want. We as human beings, are supposed to be consciously aware of what is right.
But, now we have Jill, right wing crusader, who has become the face of the neo conservative republican party. No different from the fundamentalist muslims, Jill uses abortion as a bludgeon (beating us over the head with her belief system), a form of terror by video taping herself and posturing herself as a spokesperson for the self righteous conservative base (Palin/Mccain).
Barack Obama has proven to be Honorable, a man of Vision, Character, a Great Campaigner, who loves his wife and children, loves his country, and has eclipsed McCain/Palin as the beacon light who will bring Change & Restore the Freedoms that our founding fathers gave us. |

Ellen do you even watch the news? Most of accusations against Obama have been put down and proved as false. Even the right winged network FoxNews has proven most of these rumors to be false along with rumors against McCain.
Muslim?! I think not, he may have had a Muslim father, but it doesn't mean he is Muslim. He never spent time with his father and barely even knew him, he was raised in Hawaii with his grandparents, from his mothers side. Who by the way they were Christian.
I learned in a college course how to recognize and ignore all the propaganda that is out there. Now that I am ignoring propaganda I can see the strait facts and issues. As an Independant I have tallied the pros and cons of each nominee and with that said I will have to say I am with Obama/Biden, but from here until election day if something should change then my vote would change.
But the one thing I can't stand is that Hillary voters who are now siding with McCain just because Palin is on the ticket because she is a woman with a family and personality. If they where truly Hillary supporters they wouldn't be voting for Palin because she doesn't stands for everything Hillary was for. Hillary and Palin are on opposite sides of the spectrum and I find it sad that they would betray Hillary like that.
With that said I hope people can just get along and stop bring up hateful propaganda that is confusing the general public and to report the whole truth not just half truths. |

Wow--I saw some of what was written and wanted to read further. I can't believe that people would say they stuff they would. We are GROWN UPS---state your opinion with respect for others' beliefs and opinions. Ester you should be ashamed of yourself--just because someone believes something different doesn't give you the right to be so hateful.
I like McCain and Palin and I liked Bush his first four years. Politics change people and it can be pretty drastic and I know this from having some old friends that were changed. All politicians lie to get votes and the same goes for both parties. How come we can't try to do good for everyone instead of split everything. Obama does have some good things too and even if you are for Obama, you should be able to see some good things on the other side.
Those are the problems with America--not necessarily the issues but the fact that we are casting blame on each other and not taking issues at hand and helping out those in need. If you believe in abortion--how bout trying to promote safe sex or abstinance instead of getting in on a huge debate or if you believe in helping out the poor volunteer somewhere. We have a responsibility not to pick the best candidate but to work the change we want. |

Ok,so I've read all the hateful things people have written on here. Don't you realize it's JUST a discussion on peoples views?? Esther, theres no need to be hateful against someone just because theyre sharing their opinion. Thats the problem nowadays....if someone doesnt agree with what they believe they become hateful and mean towards them. That is not how god wants ANYONE to be. Everyone views things their own way. If you dont like it, shrug it off, you wont change the way they think. You're for Obama and others are for McCain. All you can do now is vote, not fight. Because no matter what you say, when the poll is finally over, nothing can be changed and either Mccain is president or Obama is president. I HIGHLY doubt that Laura wanted to show this video to have people fighting and name calling. This group is just to discuss things. ME,personally, I'm for Mccain. But i will NEVER say youre wrong for what you believe. NO ONE can say that. And, one thing I want to say(without starting a fight) is that, I have not seen Mccain put down Obama as much as I've seen Obama put down McCain. And you are doing EXACTLY what he doing now by puttting down someone with what they believe. And thats all I will argue. I'm not on here to insult anyone. This is how I feel, and no matter what anyone says it wont change. |

What values are we teaching or planning on teaching our children by setting an example like this?? Can't we all just get along?
I'm all for voicing opinions, but only in a setting where differences in opinons can be shared without the risk of being crucified. Clearly, this topic has gotten out of hand...

Dissent is what makes America Great. Without Dissent we would have no Freedom. Thinking inside the box is a very narrow way of looking at the big picture. You can be trapped by dogma, bias, and a very prejudiced myopic prospective.
All I am doing is Questioning, Taking the Risk, Daring You to think outside the box. Left or Right of Center is not what it is about.
We are at a point now, where we have been stripped of our inalienable rights and it is our responsibility to restore what has been lost.
We must debate the issues and find the common ground as citizens, as human beings, to rekindle the flame. |

Ladies,
I know some of you asked for deleting this thread, and some of you think we should not. It is very hard for me to come to terms with deleting threads because the whole point of a 'Moms and Politics' group is to be a place where we can discuss politics without pressure or censure.
But it is not possible to have personal attacks.
I will ask that we all please stick to the issues and no go personal.
Thanks for your understanding.

I dont think this thread should be deleted. I enjoy good debate, & have seen it first hand here. I dont like name calling, perpetuating lies or hate mongering on either side, but I will respect anyone's opinion, as that is our right. I have my views, but I teach my son & will teach my daughter to form their own opinions & views, & debates like these can be helpful. I caution all of us however, just because something is on the internet, doesn't make it factual for any side. |

Wow! I haven't had a chance to read in quite awhile. I had no idea what hateful things have come out of this. I THOUGHT this was a place where we could share our views and discuss things with the perspective of moms raising our children. I am personally against abortion. I believe every life begins at conception...again, my personal belief. The reason I put this on here is because you cannot debate the fact that babies are being killed. They are born and left to die! How as moms can we stand by and allow this to happen? Religion aside...it is still murder. It breaks my heart at how ugly this has gotten. Someone said that we are not setting very good examples as a mom. I agree whole-heartedly. |

There is an under current of hatred that is "glossed" over by those claiming to be in control of a moralizing, self righteous viewpoint.

Anyone who is ok with this and votes to allow this to take place is wrong...right wing, left wing...I'm not talking political sides. You seem to be missing the point entirely Esther. This is about doing the right thing and standing up for a child's life to live....not abandoned in a room to die! You are in fact a mom, are you not???? |
