I was so excited to stumble across this group-- my husband and I are trying hard to use sign around our twin sons and are hoping that they will use sign to communicate with us before they are able to do so verbally.

I have been trying to use sign with my daughter, I dont know alot, but i know the basics. She does know some of them but she doesnt always use it. And sometimes she gets annoyed with me doing signs so she pushes my hands away, lol. I am hoping that she will still pick some of it up though. You should learn a few songs in sign so that when (if?) you sing to them you can sign too. I know twinkle, twinkle, row row row the boat, and the ABC's. I found a great book at my library that has a bunch of kids songs in sign, and also a dvd called Signing Time, that she loved. they do a couple songs, but they mostly just show different baby signs. It helped a little cuz she loved to watch that DVD. She probably would have learned more from it if we had our own though.
Good Luck with it though.

My sister-in-law is deaf and my husband is a sign language interpreter, so I am spoiled! I am surrounded by people who can help me with any signs I don't know. Although, at least conversationally, I can speak ASL fluently. (if not perfectly!) I try.
I am so excited for the twins to start signing with their adorable pudgy hands! :)
I will have to check out those videos. That would be fun when they are a bit older.
Thanks!
