It happened again! Poor Logan got his finger cut in the process of having his nails trimmed. The first time it happened, I did it. And I cried right along with him. And tonight Josh did it. I feel so bad for the poor guy, but we have to cut his nails or he scratches his face all up. What do you guys do to cut their nails and not their fingers? Any suggestions??? |

I bring it as close to his skin as I can, then I pull back before I cut. So then I know exactly where his skin is in the process. I haven't cut him ever by doing this. Summer I do the same and it seems to work well. Just know that it may hurt them a little now, but it will better than them having scratches all over their faces. And they won't remember it at all. Just wait until they stop wanting to cooperate, that is fun! lol Blessings! |

I don't clip Martin's nails, i file them. I find it easier to do it this way and less painful. Plus you get a closer trim without cutting when you file. |

Rowan does the same thing. He has two scratches on his forehead right now. But only when his daddy cuts them does his skin get cut too. I don't know what he does differently, but I've never cut his fingers. I just take my time and be really careful. ( I know, really helpful right? lol) |

Thanks for the advice, girls. I guess we will just be more careful?!? And maybe I will just file them and let daddy take a break. Poor kid! |

Try cutting them while he's asleep... less stressful for you both! I can do it without my son moving & no more clipping him as well as the nails! |

I have to trim with them sleeping as well... I pull the skin/pad of the finger down to seperate it more from the nail before I cut. I tried filing for a while and it took FOREVER. I got my four year old's finger once, but so far this time I'm doing better. |
