What is the best way to potty train a 3 year old boy who is sometimes willing and sometimes not willing to use the potty. How do I encourage him to want to use the potty and to recognize when his body has to pee or poo? Or do I just wait until he says he is ready? I have been making sure that he sits on the potty about once an hour. Is that frequently enough? What if he isn't ready until he is four or five? Please someone share your wisdom. Thank you! |

My son is 2 1/2 yrs old. He doesn't talk much so he can't tell me when he has to go.. Though he will sit on the potty but nothing happens.. Today while on the computer he came upstairs and actually told me he had a poo poo!! Yeah, at least that is an improvement. From my experience with my daughter wait until they are really intrested. She watched a video called "it's Potty Time" and in 4 days she potty trained herself. We have a tile floor downstairs and it was summer so she ran around naked and didn't like the splattering of the pee on the floor. So, she just started using the potty.
Boys are different. It takes them longer. have patients and putting him on the potty that often is great. you are doing a good job, it will happen when it does, just don't rush him or it will relapse. |

My daughter is 2 years old and I am in the process of training her but the funny thing is when she poops and see it in the potty. She runs circles around it ...anyone has that experience....weird. then she runs the hall back and forth screaming popo popo. She did it again when I am with her but when is does it with her dad she acts like a lady :0...strange little girl I must say :) But i do love her hahahah

Got a funnier story. My daughter who is 8yrs old now, when potty training her she would go poop in the back yard.. she would squat down like the dog on go in the back yard.. I would live her naked in the summer while potty training, and the back door would be open and she would just go in the back yard like the dog!!!! too funny.. she thought she was a dog.. though she would pee in the potty.. Hey whatever worked I guess.. then, she finally used the potty when she pooped and would wave and say bye bye poop, as we flushed.. what kids do. And then she went through a stage where she wouldn't wipe herself and would call me into the bathroom to wipe her (I did the same thing when I was little, my mom said). Then when we wen't out to eat and went to the bathroom she wouldn't use the bathroom if the toliet flushed by itself, she was scared of them.. |
