just wanted a little input...
I know that this may be a bit controversial, and if you don't agree that is okay, I didn't used to either.

The harnesses that they make for kids, I want to get one for my daughter. I used to think they were so stupid, and i could never imagine putting any kid on a leash. but now that I have a child, my position has switched completly. Everytime we go to a store my daughter runs off, and i have to go chase her, she screams if I put her in a cart or stroller. And i cant blame her, I mean a nice smooth plane of floor with all kinds of neat things stacked all over the place? It's a kids dream...
But I wanted to know if anyone has used them before, which kind worked best (harness or wrist), and what age did you use it at?

FYI, my daughter is only 10.5 months, but she is already running (away from me lol) which is why I would like to get one for her.

Hi, I felt the same way about being against them before I had a baby. Funny how we can be so critical of people when we arent in their shoes.
:)
But my son is very active and runs off, we used a harness when he was about the age of your child, only for a month or so...until he started listening better. But for me there was a double issue. I felt that in a crowded public space, when I was out alone with him...I felt safer that he was attached yet had his freedom....he could not run off, but also I felt safer that no one could grab him too.
We used the back pack (stuffed monkey) harness, that seemed to be nicer for him I think. he carried a few of his little things and thought it was fun to have this monkey on his back.

I just recently bought a harness for my son. He is very independant and also a very heavy/big 16 month old. I bought a harness that came with a wrist band as well. I have only used the harness but I plan to use the wrist band when he gets a bit older. I still get lots of bad looks but I use it to keep my son safe and to me thats all that matters!

don't worry about the bad looks. Some kids just need them.. People don't uderstand that all kids aren't like theirs.. I wish I would have had one when my son was a little younger. He is 2 1/2 yrs now and finally is starting to listen to me and not run off. Like at softball games he now stays around the area we are in.. He use to run off and one time even ran onto the field and they had to stop a game because of him.. So, I say use it!!

Thanks everyone, I did get the monkey one from walmart. And she doesn't seem to mind it, which I was glad about because I have heard that ome kids flip out when you put them on them. And I even got a complement on it, which i was very surprised about, because to be honest the first time i used it i felt like i was walking my child. The only problem i have had ith it is that she isnt quite so balanced yet, so when she tries to walk farther than the harness will go, she falls down. Oh and if i am looking at something on one side of the aisle and she is on the other, I feel bad because we take up the whole aisle.
Hopefully she will get more used to it though because we are going to spend the day at a resort later this month and i wanted to try and use it there.

thanks for all your help!
