Cousins/grandchildren should bond yearly/monthly to keep connections strong
A year ago, one of my nephews died and all the cousins met again at his funeral. I realised how some of their children didn't really know each other and how these days families are living all over the states, making it hard to keep families tight knit. I started the first annual "cousins event" and we went camping in upnorth MIchigan. Wow! All the kids were between 7 and 12, plus a couple babies thrown in. They had a blast, and vowed to meet again. This year so much happened in my immediate family that I struggled to put a date on this and late in August, we camped upnorth with some of the cousins. The same weekend a big event brought us together at Boyne Mountain, MI and almost all 1st and 2nd(children) cousins got together. We wore matching colored shirts and shared last years experiences with ease. Next year's vacation together can't come soon enough!
