My daughter is starting kindergarten and I always pack a healthy lunch for her. She has wheat allergies so it limits our options a bit and I am running out of fun new ideas. Does anybody have creative, new fun ideas for lunch time?
Thanks!

I just need lunch ideas in general.... how about sandwich roll ups on corn tortillas? Veggies and ranch dip. cheese sticks. rice crackers or flavored rice cakes (mini ones). Gluten free granola bars. Fruit. |

Hi Phoebe,
We do a lot of pasta salads and you can certainly get wheat free & gluten free pasta. I sometimes make bowties or tortellini and add chopped tomatoes, broccoli, sometimes olives which my son loves, etc.
Carrots & peppers with hummus is a big one for us too. I'll make a small bowl of hummus for my son and stick in carrots and peppers straight up and call it a birthday cake (like candles). He loves that. You can do that w/ a cheese stick, apple slices w/ peanut butter to dip (if she's not allergic) and/or yogurt.
Also I wanted to let you know I recently came across a very cool site and found this video, giving advice to parents and families who have kids with allergies. The site gives advice for all things having to do with kids in elementary school from nutrition to homework to class trips. It's fantastic. Check it out if you have sec. Great video on food allergies and some lunch ideas is in the the link below:

Good luck!
