I believe in cutting proportions of food intake by just a little down sizing at a time. Nothing too drastic at first. A gradual decrease will help cut calories and pounds, and you still can have your favs. The thing is not to deny yourself of what you crave. Don't skip meals, just down size. NO SUPER SIZE MEALS! Go small and have what you want. When you do this your body and psychi do not feel deprived. Cravings are satisfied. You'll shrink your stomache and train your mind of eating habits at the same time. It may seem it (the weight) is coming off slowly, but the more trained you are to this new way of eating, the longer the effects will last. I did this and I lost 40lbs in 6 months. I didn't have time for exersize, but I do recommened it. Now that I felt beautiful and slim, I became pregnant. LOL So now I'm going to do this again. I have to say that it is about 40lbs or so that I need to loose again. I have not been on a scale in a while, but I feel like I have lost some. I am always open for new ideas and advise. Thank You and Hello All. |

Hi, Busygirl - Welcome!
I totally agree with your methods; that is how I am doing it. I've lost 13 lbs since the beginning of April, 1.5 percertage points of body fat, and an inch or two here and there.
But the best thing is that I went to a Memorial Day cook-out and some people I haven't seen in a while could tell I'd lost weight!
Isn't it nice to know that you've done it before and you can do it again on the weight loss? I gained 60lbs with my first pregnancy and 40 with my second - but both times I lost the weight fairly quickly.
Are you pg now, or have you delivered the baby? Either way, we've got your back! |

I've delievered the baby. He's 7 1/2 months now. So yeah, it's time to start my diet and I'll have to incorpoorate exersize in too. |

I am so glad to hear that you are both doing well. I think that it is great to be able to see results with just watching your diet when I was younger I use to think that diets were a joke, but if you really put your mind to it, it works. I have just switched to diet/caffeine free soda. It isn't the best tasting but it has no calories. I hope you both keep up the work,I am excited about excercising now I look forward to it. |

Diet soda is, like many things, an acquired taste. I first began drinking it when I realized that I am hypoglycemic and regular pop was making me crash in a big way. That was 15 years ago.
Now if I have to drink regular pop it tastes funny to me!
One thing that helps me a lot is measuring my serving sizes. I check serving sizes and measure EVERYTHING at home (even if I've measured it the same amount everyday for the last month and should be able to eyeball it). When I go out, I order the smallest portion sizes I can, and separate a reasonable serving size from the rest of my meal to eat. |

Hello all, I am glad to hear that everyone is doing great. I keep telling myself that it did not come on overnight so it won't come off overnight. But for me it sure seems like it came on quickly. I had my last baby and started loosing pretty quickly but than, BOOM here came the pounds 10 here 10 there and now I am about 60 pounds heavier than I was 2 years ago. I have been very faithful in walking and changing my eating habits, and I am starting to see a difference but no one else has yet. There is just something great about hearing the words,"Are you loosing weight?" I have lost 10 pounds since May 5, and 2 pants sizes since Jan. I think I am building muscle in my legs that is why the scale is not moving. But a little here and a little there is all that we can ask for. So If we all just keep doing what we are doing and encouraging wach other, hopefully we will all reach our goal of living a healthy lifestlye. Keep the good ideas coming! Keep up the good work!! When I switched to diet soda, I lost 20lbs. It is an acquired taste. I totally agree with you on that.I also have been cutting my regular sugar with Splenda(1/2&1/2) to make my sweet tea., about a cup and a quarter. This also I did with a gradual decrease, because I'm not the only person in the house that drinks it. |

I have to confess that I really don't diet. I'm so busy that I don't have time to cook. I watch my son in the morning and I work until late evening. By the time I get home, I get my son ready for bed, feed him, and put him to sleep. By then it's almost 11pm and I'm dead tired. It also doesn't help that he still doesn't sleep thru the night and I have to go to work the next day. I usually eat frozen food for dinner and costco frozen food. My days off I try to get all my workout, housework, and shopping done. It's so busy at work that sometimes I don't even have time to eat. I normally lose weight when I go back to work since I don't have the time to snack all day. |

Monique, women who go back to work and still play super mom are extrodinary. You all empower me to know that if a working mom can do it then I should have no problem. You don't have to diet, well at least that is what I tell myself. I cut to diet soda because I enjoy the cola flavor and I can have it without the calories so that is one less thing that I have to count. Keep it up super mom. |

I don't think of myself as supermom. I think all moms are supermoms. We all work very hard everyday to do everything we can for our children. That's great news Tammy. You should be very proud of yourself. Keep up the amazing work!! |
