Jacob is 12 1/2 months. When assisted, meaning when I hold his hands or his arms, he walks around. But he won't walk on his own. He takes a few steps here and there but he still prefers to crawl. I was just wondering, for the moms on the board, when did your baby boy start walking? Should I be worried?
Also, he is NOT sleeping through the night yet. A few weeks ago he was, but then his back tooth started to come in. Now all hope of that is gone. What can I do to ease him back into that transition?

My daughter is turning one on Sunday (yeah!) and she is actually walking now. She started to take her first steps at 10 months and is now a full fledged walker. There is a big age range from what I hear though from like 8-15 months, so I would not worry. I really attribute her early walking to her Stride to Ride Lion from FP. She pushed that thing around the house for hours, I ended up having to hide it, but that was good practice for her.
As far as his sleeping through the night again, I think the only thing you can do is keep your routine and hope that he goes back to sleeping through the night. There are also many sleep techniques out there if you get desperate.
Hope this helps! |

My daughter is the same way and she is 14 months. Don't worry!! Your son will do it when he's ready, not when everyone else thinks he is. Be patient! |

You know my son started walking just after his first birthday unassisted, but all of my mom's kids did not full fledged walk until 18 months! so i wouldn't get too hung up on it, every child does things at their own pace, besides the later they walk the later you are running from room to room! as far as sleeping through the night i can't help much there, i was one of the lucky ones that had a child sleeping in 7 hour spans at night by 2 months. the only thing i can say is my son has had 4 surgeries and after each one he had some trouble the first few weeks sleeping through so i would usually put on SPROUT (he usually doesn't watch too much tv) and i would lay with him until he was drowsy and put him down just before he fell asleep. |

I wouldn't stress at all about your son not walking yet. My son didn't start walking until about 18months. He preferred walking on his knees. Each child is very different. As far as him sleeping through the night, I would have a night time routine for him and always follow it. It might help. Does he sleep in bed w. you or his crib? For awhile my son wanted to sleep in my bed, and I had to resist the urge. |

My son walked early at 10 months, but I heard that anywhere up until 18 months is normal. :)

wow my son walked at seven months on his own. He is now almost a year. One next thursday. I walked on my own at six months so it must run in my family. My mom says the average is somewhere between 10-18 months for boys, that girls typically walk much earlier. Apparently girls do everything earlier. Go figure. |
