How Healthy is the Picky Eater/Toddler
Food is my main area of concern with my 2andhalf yo. He is so picky and while the doctor told me to stop all baby food three months ago and to only give him what we eat, i admit to giving in to the constant whining:( i did stop the baby food, but i pretty much let him eat what he wants. At the moment that includes fish sticks, canned peaches, applesauce, crackers, pop tarts, pizza, and milk MILK MILK. i do limit the milk as instructed to about 16oz a day.He hasn't added any new foods in months and stopped eating the chicken nuggets he used to love.
i feel i am failing him in this area, but am torn about letting him go hungry for long and then listening to the crying and whining when he refuses to eat what i give him. He won't even eat mac and cheese!!
please any and all advice is welcome

My daughter is 2 1/2 years old as well and will not eat breakfast and half the time she will not eat much lunch she will eat dinner most of the time. I limmit her milk and juice intake during the day and I don't let her snack all day long unless she eats lunch. We have gone threw the faze of eating hotdogs 3 times a day and mac and cheese , she will eat french fryes . He new kick is mini corn dogs or spigety o's . I spoke to my daoctor about t he matter and even the wick newtreshnist and they have both said that as long as they get the callories a day that they need that they will be ok. I due give her a pediashure every day before bed time so that I know she has the extra nutrishion that she needs . I don't due the pediashure between meals or before a meal becouse it does tend to curve her apite. My Oldes child who is 15 now went threw the same stage of not wanting to eat any thing at allexept for brockley and vegies I think that they all go threw a period of pickey eating so just hang in there it will get better. My 2 year old son has gone through some odd phases. Refusing favorite foods one week then eating pickles and grapefruit the next. We have tried a few different things to get him to try things like meatloaf or waffles. DIP. ketchup, syrup, yogurt, whatever goes together. I am curious-do you still feed him, or try to assist, or maybe monitor his actual eating? He might want to feel he has more control or independence when it comes to meal time. I've also read somewhere that it can take up to 15 tries to take a new food. You might try takind him to the store and have him pick out his own special dish and utensils. I Had to bargain or deal up a consequence rather to get him to eat certain things. 'If you don't eat a bite of whatever, you can't watch a video when we're done' It works for the most part. Good Luck to you. The 2 year old eating habits can be so unpredictable. ;)

Wow, your 2.5yr old liked baby food? If so, why would she want you to stop feeding it to him? It is probably the most nutritious stuff he could eat.
My daughter is 3.5yr and extremely picky. I understand your battle completely!
