I think it is totally avoidable, my kids are five years old and they never set foot in it, they even have not developed a taste for junk food.
I don't mean to sound pretentious but with all kids obesity and diabetes problems, it would be great that Mc Donald and all similar chains would be avoided.
It looks like kids eat meat, potato and bread. But the meat is bad quality probably full of hormons, the french fries are fried in hydrogenated fat and the bread was baked century ago!
Where is the healthy meal in that?

Well, I was doing really good in the McDonald's avoidance until my kid got sick. This summer he had the stomache flu twice in two months and lost 7 pounds. He loves veggies and that doesn't add much weight. I started feeding him chicken nuggets just to fatten him up. I swear they put drugs in that junk because now he wants them all the time. He is finally starting to eat other food well enough that I don't need to add extra calories. It makes me sick to feed him junk, but I don't like the hour long scream fits for nuggets either. Bottom line, they don't scream for what they never had. Good job, Vero. |

Vero, I made the mistake of introducing McD's to my son (4) and so now he loves it. The McD's playplace is one of the few places in my small town to take the kids for some playplace fun. So, when we DO go I just order him some chicken selects, apple dippers (or the fruit/yogurt parfait -- his choice) and chocolate milk (he hates potatoes of any kind so fries are never a problem) and I just buy him the toy on the side. If you try hard enough most things can be avoided I guess!!
We have the hardest time getting Michael to eat veggies...
