Baby Einstein
When I heard that study about B.E. kids having less words than non-B.E. kids, I thought these folks don't know my son. My 5y.o. still loves the tapes, I had to give them away so he would move on.
He still recognizes the Bach and Beethoven tunes when he hears them and he has a GREAT vocabulary.
I grew up on Sesame Street and know that just tv is great when you need a few minutes to yourself. But I watched B.E. with my son when he was young and talked about it while it was on.
Choo choo. Red apple. Silly puppet. Even on the tapes the (disney sell-out) creator says - watch and play with your kids. If you plop 'em down by themselves, no they are not going to get anything out of it, but together...it can be good.

Hey, bravo to you, Jenny for doing BE the way it's supposed to be done! I am happy to hear about your son's experience, and that it worked for him.

My son, who's now six, also loved BE and I had to get rid of them in order for him to quit wanting to watch them. He too is a brilliant child but I must confess most of the time I didn't watch them with him. I used this time to do what I needed to get done around the house. Bad me huh? LOL! Personally I couldn't stand the dvd's but he loved them and they were educational.
