Crying...any ideas?
Please can someone give me any more ideas on how to make my son stop crying when I'm not holding him?

He turned 8months on Aug 4th and if I sit him down with loads of toys or in the high chair or anywhere he cries. It doesn't matter if he knows I'm right behind him or in front of him, he just wants me to hold him. SOMETIMES I can get him to be ok with sitting without me holding him and he be ok until I need to get up to either get his food ready(bottle or baby food) or go to the bathroom and then he'll just bust out screaming crying. I just don't know what to do anymore...I've tried peek-a-boo games around the house, using the sofa or wall but he doesn't seem to think its funny it just makes him cry harder...I've tried telling him I'll be right back and make any trip out of the room short but that doesn't work...And I've tried the C.I.O method and nothing, NOTHING seems to work. Please does anyone else have any ideas? I don't think I can handle it anymore, he just cries if I'm not holding him. He has 8 teeth, so I don't think it can be teething. I mean with me being a S.A.H.M he sees me ALL day EVERY day. I thought maybe a weekend with his grandparents might help, ya know get a break from me so he knows he can do without me for a little while, but that failed. Even if my husband, his daddy is playing with him and I walk out of the room he freaks for a minute then remembers his daddy is right there.

I just need help, I don't want him to do this anymore...any ideas?

Girl, that is so normal, your baby just wants mama.
I have 4 boys, 9,7,4,& 3. Thay all went through that time, at around the same time as yours. So you just need to get your mind set on being with him when hes awake. Get all your stuff done when hes sleeping. I know that seems like a lot of work, but I promise this faze doesn't last very long. You,ve herd the term, "If you can't beat them, join them".
If there is something that you have to do, and it can't wait, I used to put my babies in a back pack carrier and as soon as they would pass out I would set them on the floor very carefully, making sure before hand that I bundled them so they won't move. This never failed. Just be patient, they grow soooo fast, so spend as much time as you can with them. Remember your home to be with your baby.
By the way, its really good as well to take your baby with you to the bathroom. Put some toys in the tub so every time you go you just set him in there. This works too when you want to clean the bathroom. Remember when you leave the room, you might think oh I'm just going in the next room, but your baby has no idea. When you leave the room, as far as he's concerned his mommy just disapeared. :)

I have to say I agree with Bobbi... My son, who is now 5, did that to me. The only thing that I would add is to suggest a carrier called The Ultimate Baby Wrao. You can get it from Babies-R-Us. They carry from birth to 36 pounds and are VERY comfortable. I got mine as a gift for my second child while i was still pregnant. I was so excited about it that I took it home and tried it. using my oldest as my tester. WHILE STILL PREGNANT i put it on, put a 3 year old in it and BARELY felt the weight!!!! I also had him lay his head down and took it completely off without having to lift his head. I found that the more rigid "back-pack" type carriers dont support your back very well, are hard to put on and take off WITHOUT the baby in it and impossible with him in it, and have to be adjusted WAY too often. The UBW works the same way whether you weight 100lbs or 260lbs.and its REALLY easy to use (dispite coming with an instructionaly dvd!) The ONLY bad thing I have to say about it is that it can get hot (i live in louisiana) but the benefits of using it far outweigh it being kind of uncomfortable in the summer. Also it is good when running lots of errands b\c you can put it on before you leave the house and not have to take it off until you are home, instead of having to unload a stroller every time you get out! One more thing there were lots of times when I had my son in his and he feel asleep and I decided I wanted to nap with him, this thing is so comfortable that I just laid down with it on! Obviously you have to know you arent going to roll over the baby, Im just saying its that comfortable! I hope this helps
