My 3 year old son

My 3 yo son is a hand full. If he wants something, that is the only thing on his mind and nothing is going to stop him. If I say no, omg, the world had just ended and here comes the crying and the whining. Please give me some advice. I have tried everything. I have a friend who hardly ever wants to be around us I think because of all of his whining. Please someone help me, before I lose my mind.
