Hi. I know this is suppose to be about mothers having problems with their children, but I don't know what else to do. I do have a 6 month old son. I feel guilty complaining about my life when I have such a handsome little boy. When I can't get my son to stop crying, I cry. It's not just because I feel useless and frustrated that I can't help him. In fact, I might even cry more than he does. lol. The problem is more our financial situation and my fiance. He works with his brother and he really hates it. His brother never pays him when he's suppose to and half the time, it's not the full amount. He's usually only working a couple days a week now and at $20/hr, it's just not enough for the 3 of us and our dog to eat, let alone pay all the bills. I'm suppose to be getting money for maternity leave, but my employer keeps losing the form. My fiance is also very unappreciative. He's always angry and miserable and says I'm not allowed to be upset. He also doesn't understand why it bothers me so much that he *talks* to young women online when I'm right here. I'm also very much alone in a big city about a 1,000 miles from where I'm from. I would like to move back home, but my mother already made me feel bad when she came to visit when my son was born. She told me he's such a great guy. Don't mess it up and I was asking him to help me too much. I'm so confused. I love him and he says he loves me and he gets angry when I ask him about the girls online. Am I being stupid and naive or should I just suck it up and get over it? |

Hello Kristina. Hope you are feeling a bit better. Maybe you should make an appointment with your doctor and discuss postpartem depression and see if you doctor thinks you are suffering from it or not. Maybe your doctor can refer you to a social worker in your area or help you find a support group. Well, as to the "should you suck it up and get over it". Sometimes that is what life requires; however, it is really hard to "just get over it" if you are depressed. It is also hard to make good decisions while you are depressed. So start with the doctor to determine if you are depressed, and get help if you need it. Hang in there. |
