New Denton Parent... Almost

So we just closed on our new house in Denton and will be arriving mid-August. My 1st grader will be going to Hodge Elementary and I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. We loved the area when we were there buying our home. We are looking forward to making new friends and checking out all the cool places to play in Denton and the surrounding Lake Cities area. I have joined a Meet Up group there too. Any suggestions as to where I can take the kids to play and meet friends? I know it is hot there now so I guess not a lot of outdoor playing goes on this part of the year. We love the water and would also like some tips on where to go to play in the lake(s) in the area. I have 2 kayaks and hope to be able to get them in the water soon. Anyone who has any tips or insider information for the "new kids in town" we would love to hear from you. Thanks. I know the season is done but there is a small outlet where no one really goes for the lewisville lake. It is behind the walmart on swisher. You take ronald regan past walmart, make a right when you can't go straight anymore and the a left when you can't go straight anymore. There is a bounce house that is open for 2 hrs. a week on wed. from 10-12. It's called hero's. My son you is 3 1/2 go there almost every week. The city also has great programs for the kids.
