I am hiring a college age babysitter to watch my daughter for 4 hours on Thursdays. I offered to pay $10 per hour. Do you think that is too much- too little? |

That sounds about right to me and I babysat from high to after graduating college. OI had three regular families. One family I made $7/hour (the kids were awful!), one I made $10/hour (the baby was 10 months old and just precious) and the other I made $15-20/hour (two absolutely wonderful kids), but dad was a banker in Chicago so yeah... |

I am going to have to agree with Teri. I was a high school sitter as well and had a handful of families I babysat for regularly. I was paid $10 an hour for 3 children. Most of the families I sat for had 3 children so that was my going rate. Plus I was allowed to eat what ever I wanted as long as it wasn't alcoholic. (for obvious reasons). You have to remember it is a tax free job that they are doing and it is quite enjoyable for most who do it. However, if you have already offered to pay her $10 an hour I don't know how you would go about changing that. Best of luck. |
