Hey all , Wondering your thought on letting your toddlers watch TV. As for me I am really not to fond lf letting my 27 month old watch alot of his show (Barney, Blues, Noddy etc..) he would love to watch all day if I would let him and boy wouldnt that make life easy for me. But !!! I for some reason feel I am doing harm whenevr I let him watch a show . I do let him but not much compared to what i have seen of other moms doing. Any thought?? |

i just leave my tv on all day and they can watch whatever kids show is on. they watch channel 8 learning. sesame street, barney, so forth. it has to be a show that they can learn from. they also watch the disney channel. the times i turn it off is during nap time or when they eat. my girls really cant play outside because we live in az. and its already 90 out by 10. i have lots of toys, drawing, coloring they can do. all the things i have is learning. the only time i go for walks is when the sun is down. its just too hot outside. the only time i go for errands is when i have the truck and sometimes i make my appts. in the morning before it turns 105. if you go to a park, make sure the toys are covered, too hot and will burn your child. a lot of the parks dont make play equipment for 3 and 2 years old. im not taking my girls to some place that will cost too much money. plus my 3 year old is the one that is potty training. my 2 year old will take time. when we move back to the midwest, we will change our habits and put our girls into something. and they will enjoy the outdoors more. things are cheaper too. it is a little hard for me to get on the floor to play with my girls, im about 23 weeks preggo and enjoy the time with my girls sitting up at the table or on the couch learning, singing, or just chilling out. tina and the fam. |

In my opinion too much tv is just that-too much. My son would rather play and learn with me around. Some days he watches Sesame Street while I clean up, but other days I watch it with him. He loses interest if I am not around to talk to him about what he is watching. He likes it when I explain stuff. They learn more when your there with them and getting involved... Those are my experiences and thoughts about tv....
Noggin-some shows and Sesame Street-He loves Elmo.. |

Our TV is on when shows like The Wiggles, Doodlebops, Little Einstein's, & Sesame Street are on. I really don't like for my son to watch a lot of TV unless they are learning shows and these are all shows that we can interact with, we dance together, learn our counting and ABC's that sort of thing. Most of the day we are playing inside or outside. My son loves to be read to so we do that a lot too. Every family is different though so you have to decide what is best for your family and go with it. |

Thanks ladies! I agreee my sons watches only something that is teaching him. We have alot of new shows on our cable which teaches colrs numbers abc.. etc... I guess if it isnt a bad show (not teaching anythiing) then it really isnt too bad....but I still will be careful not to have it on too much. THXS |

I think watching watching those shows are fine, as long as he isn't sitting in front of the tv all day. You have to have a healthy balance. My 23mo. old has learned quite a bit from Sesame Street. He can almost count to 10, and he knows quite a few of his abc's. I just think you have to keep a close eye on it, and not let it get out of hand. |
