My daughter just turned 5 months, and has been sleeping in her bassinet next to our bed until last night. I know, it's a bit long to keep her in the bassinet, but we haven't had a place to set up her crib until this past weekend. I got her down last night after about 30 minutes of soothing her. But she had us up all night long, whining. I know this is a new thing for her, but I am sure that there is some way to get her to take to her new sleeping quarters. Please let me know if you have any advice on getting her acquainted to her new crib. Thanks. |

When I started putting my son down in his own crib and even now, I try to make sure he is somewhat drowsy and when I do put him down I try not to drag out the "good night," I kiss him before I put him down IN THE DARK and walk out as quickly as possible, obviously now my son can fuss a little longer as he is almost 14 months, but I do let him fuss a little, usually he works it out. When he was 5 months I would maybe let him fuss for 10 minutes, not full on get upset and throw a fit, but I think a little fussiness is okay. Now if I wanted to get him drowsy at 5 months I would do things you probably already do, like walk him around, rub his back, bounce him in my arms, now he really calms down when I let him run around and then I rub lotion on him kind of a massage and then I sit with him for 10-15 minutes. If she absoutely does not want to be in the crib, you could try putting her down and rubbing her belly/back the first few nights to calm her, because I know for me personally trying to get my son to fall asleep in my arms and then putting him down always failed, he would wake up as soon as I put him down! She will get used to the crib soon, you have to persevere for a little while, but it's like that with every nee thing! good luck |

when my daughter slept in the bassinet i would swadle her put a blanket on top of her and tuck it underneth the matress so she couldn't pull it and we put a small planket under the top half of the mattress to elivat it and laid her on her side. when we moved her into the crib I started with naps and put everything from the bassinet into the crib so she had something familiar with her and we never had a problem, and we played a cd softly for back ground noise. worked great and still does. don't worry she will get it and like it better cause there is more room. right now she probly still likes the closness of the small area. |

I started transitioning my daughter during the day, for her naps. So the night I put her in the crib instead of the bassinet, it wasn't so "new" to her. We also had a mobile and another thing that attaches to the crib and plays soothing sounds. |
