moved
Hi everyone. I need some advice. We just moved to a new state and I need to get out and meet people for myself and my daughter. But I'm struggling to get myself to do it. I've been down since we moved and in the process of finding a therapist. I didn't think I'd feel this isolated and lonely. I guess it gets easier. Everything is new right now. And it gets overwhelming. Anyone in the same boat?

If your daughter is preschool age, you might try a co-op preschool. It is a great way to meet other parents for you and find kids for your daughter to play with. Some of my friends also do MOPS (I think it is Mothers of Preschoolers or something like that). I think local churches run the MOPS groups so you might call around and see if you can find one. If your daughter is older, I don't really know what you can do. Maybe join the PTA or YMCA. Good Luck.

Thanks I found a newcomers group in the paper. Abby will be starting Gymboree too. I know that will help

Hi Kim. I'm in the same boat. I moved from Texas to Kentucky while I was 29 weeks pregnant. My daughter will be six weeks old now. I know exactly how you feel. My parents live in San Francisco and my in-laws live in Virginia. I was in the Navy prior to moving so all my friends are all over the country. I don't know anyone in the city I live in now. I know what it's like to feel isolated and lonely too. We started attending a church out here and they have a "Mom 2 Mom" bible study group which I plan on attending next week. I hope that I'll make some connections then. It's rough not being able to socialize. Hang in there.

We are going to start going to a newcomers group. They didn't have anything like that in my old town. Hopefully we'll meet some people.
