Oklahoma City Parents
Public group from Oklahoma City, OK

New to Group
I'm a Stay-At-Home-Dad, looking to meet other parents of small children. Would really like to find a regular playgroup for my 3 boys (5, 3, and 2). My boys are very active and really enjoy anthing that involves running, or anything high-energy.

We live in north Edmond (but this is the closest parents group), and I would really like to establish some long-term friendships for my boys.

Hi there! Welcome to the group. I just joined a couple days ago looking for a regular playgroup. I just moved here from Nevada. I had a great group for my kiddos there. The key was commiting to meeting every week (as much as childhood illnesses allow) so the kiddos could get to know each other well. My girl is 3.5 and really socializes well now. She's not quite so high energy but loves to play. My boy is 2 and has a bit more energy. We are in Yukon but just got a year membership to the OK zoo and the museum there. That might be a good place to hook up. Anyone interested? Let me know! -Augusta

We also have memberships to both the zoo and science museum. We'd love to meet and see how it goes.

We're still adjusting to moving as well. We just moved into a new house almost 2 months ago, and with three very active boys, it's been slow to unpack. I'm trying to get things done while they nap, but I don't always succeed in getting them down. I forsee our cardboard furnishings being around for a few more months...

It would be great if we could get a playgroup going on a regular basis. In a couple of weeks, my oldest starts Pre-K - but I don't know if it will be am or pm yet. If you'd like to do the zoo, I'd recommend mornings. Other than that, most days are reasonably open. Let me know what works for you...

I more than remember the days of always having someone sick. All of our guys had a pretty rough time when they were really little, but after ear tubes and adenoid removal they have been very healthy. Now, it's me struggling to keep up with them...

On behalf of Oklahoma, allow me to welcome you to the state... If there's anything I can do to help you acclimate, please let me know.

Thanks for the welcome. So far we love it here. Everyone is so friendly! Unfortunately for us, we just found out we are moving to Muskogee in about 3 weeks. We just celebrated our first month here! I think we will be doing the cardboard box thing till Christmas. Sorry to have to go! If you don't have any luck here, check out the "meetups" website. There is one group called "Edmond SAHM/SAHD" that gets together for playdates. There is also a OKC group I found on Playgroups USA but I don't know if it's active. My next step was to post an invite at the library for parents interested in a playgroup with kids my kiddos ages. That might work for you as well. Good luck with you and yours!

Sorry to hear that you are moving... But, thanks for the leads on other groups. We're trying the Edmond meetup group. Hope that you enjoy Musgokee!
