Hi there,

New to this site. I was looking for a place to vent my frustrations about my live-in mother-in-law. I think this is the perfect place.
Hopefully someone out there has advice for me. My mother in law is driving me up the wall. She acts like a 5 year old, cries over every little thing and complains to my husband about everything. She doesn't speak english, doesn't drive, doesn't go anywhere and she thinks she is the mother of my 3 month old daughter. If she could she would start breastfeeding my daughter. She is in my face all day long. I need some advice on how to deal with her. PLEASE help.

Sounds like an incredibly stressful situation.

It also sounds like your m-i-l is probably depressed, if she doesnt go anywhere and she cries alot.
She probably also still feels like a mother. She still feels like your husbands mom so she is trying to do everything she can to help him (and getting in your way, and on your turf in the process) and she probably feels like, in some ways, she has to take care of you, and is again getting in your way.
Maybe if you could involve her in some of the things you are doing, voluntarily, (like making dinner or baking, or making babyfood) she might feel like she has contributed and leave you alone at other times. Maybe she could take your daughter to a park and give you some time to nap... ?
Just remember that she loves all of you, and the best way she knows how to "help" is to "mother" you all.
