Ok so i dont have a teenage child but I have two boys ages 10 and 12. My oldest will be turning the big 13 next Feb so i thought i would get an early jump on it. He is already showing signs of teenagedom. He's become more independant and in alot of ways trying to distance himself from his younger brother. Actually i like the change in him he's more assertive, outspoken, and talking college fund. Just as long as he doesn't take it too far :)
Hi Jason - I considered my daughter a teen at 10 because of her behavior so I don't think 12 is too early to start this group. Now my kids are 12 (daughter) and almost 17 (son). I wanted to say that I think my husband has had an easier time with them as teens because he is more accepting of the changes that point toward independence. I'm a co-dependent type and some of the independence has been hard for me to deal with - I try to keep it my problem and not make it theirs.
Yeah i'm probably in the same boat as your husband. It just makes me so proud to see them growing up. i'm a single parent also. It's just been the boys and i for the last 5 years. So it's awsome now that they can get themselves ready and off for school. This past school year was the first time we lived more then a few blocks from school and the boys were walking home on their own ... was so nice.
