Help#2
My situation, w/my son, was mentioned by alot of replies for Help: I have a dificult time w/my 8yr. old son/disciplining him/tantums/depression/ADHD(very smart though)/bi-polar issues. Alot having to do w/me divorcing his dad 5yrs. ago. We've gone to counciling, doctors, meds.(for the last 3yrs.): which all work for a little while, then not at all. I've recently switched to a councilor w/our church, hoping we will both learn something. I've signed up for a BIG Brother, but found out the local chapter has folded. Any advice would help.

My son now 12 went thru the same thing. When his dad and I seperated/divorced and again when I started to date and he met my now husband. It still gets iffy at times. He has ADHD, seizures, ODD, and Dyslexia.
Perhaps if you are involved in your church they may have/willing to start of even the priest/pastor would be willing to mentor. I know that my brother has made a difference in my son. My brother has no kids and has all the time and interest in doing kid thing. I think that time away where they do not have to talk about anything and can just be free helps.
My son seems to like the time away from it all. Just as we do.

Any sport or group activity (maybe a youth group through the church) might help. I was terrified at the idea of allowing my son to participate knowing his behavior issues, but he suprised me by well he was able to participate, I tried a group activity through the church, playing up what he was better at. I know that doing something that he has difficulty with tends to frustrate him easily so I avoided those activities. But anyhow this group activity gave him a chance to develop social skills and have fun all while his mom wasn't "nagging" him...good luck
