Help.
Now that I have everyones attention. My name is Janette and I am trying to raise a very free thinking little boy. Have any of you heard this phrase from a teacher. Your son is soo smart I really think he could skip a grade but his basic motor skills need work....... Well I have and let me tell you I'm stumped at what to do about it. I have been told by a welllll respected Dr in my area that Chayton ( age 6) is more than likely dyslexic but they don't feel comfortable checking him until he is at least in the third grade. Talk about pulling my hair out. If you have heard this or something similar please feel free to shoot me a line and say so. I would love to hear what you did or are trying. Thanks

I hope you are still checking this post. I just read it! I'm not sure how much help I can be. Really the only advice I can give you is to get a second opinion...and a third and a forth... until someone gives what you need. Just because a doctor is "well respected" doesnt mean he's the right doctor for you...especailly if he is not helping you!!! In my case my child is 5 and its ADHD. They wont test him at all and the school and a "well respected" child psycologist have told me there is nothing they can do until he has been in school for at least 6 weeks. What a load of crap!! It really sucks because I have had 3 different "doctors" tell me he will "probably eventually" be diagnosed but they have to see how he does. I dont have the option of taking him to doctor after doctor until someone tells me what i need to hear, but if you do...DO IT!!! You could also try taking him to an Occupational therapist they may be able to help with the BMS.
