I want to know......
Tell me, I have lived in California all my life. Traveling between Northern and Southern California. I want to know: what is the weather like in your area? Does it ever get hot, cold? What do you do for recreation? What does the housing market look like? What can you get for a 4 bedroom house? schools-what are they like? Price of Gas?
I would like to know how other people live, and activities you do as a family. Thanks.

Hi Kellie!
I live in Northeastern Oklahoma. In the summer we reach triple digits, and in the winter we get down as low as 15 degrees (which would not be considered very cold by some northerners). Spring and Fall here are heavenly, except for allergies.

We have museums, amusement parks, an aquatic center, lots of family oriented activities, a marathon every year, the German festival in the spring and the State Fair in the Fall. We have an expo center that has something to do nearly every weekend: auto shows, gun shows, home & garden shows, quilt shows, etc.

What WE do is go fishing, go shopping at Wal-Mart, eat out, get frozen treats at Sonic, and visit with family or friends.

I'm not sure about the housing market. My grandparents small three-bedroom 60-yr old home in fair condition (needs a little work) in a popular part of town just sold for a little under $90K.

I homeschool and don't have a good opinion of the schools around here.

Price of gas today: $3.09 in Tulsa; $3.19 in our little town of Cleveland. Being in an oil state, our prices don't go up as quickly as some parts of the nation.

My husband works in Tulsa (45 miles one way) at a psychiatric hospital, which is ironic because I have debilitating depression, and, when things get really bad, I have had suicidal tendancies. I think I'm over that now!

We live out in the country, a 1/4 mile back from the nearest road, and there are woods between us and the road, so we are really secluded and it's great! Like I said, I homeschool.

A lot of people in our community go to Tulsa or Stillwater to work. A lot of them work in factories or steel mills. Average pay is probably $12-$15/hour.

I have four cats and 1 dog; my neighbor/best friend has 4 cat and 4 dogs. The animals mingle and spend time at both residences, but they know which one is their home. She also has two guinea pigs and a lizard.

That's what it's like here: very laid back, low pay, 4 distinct seasons, pretty landscape.

We live in Oklahoma and it gets Hot Hot Hot in the summer time and can get down right cold in the winnter time. This past winter we had an ice storm that lasted 2 weeks for the ice to melt. in the summer time days get up over 100+ and we have sever drought hear. Gas prices are $3.15 per gallon and a 4 bedroom home rents for $600+ a month we just bought a 4 bed room home and payed 106,000 for a 3,500 sqauer foot home with inground pool and 4 car garge. School are ackdemictly chalengeing hear. You have a pass a 9th grade reading a nd math test before you can get a drivers licens. as a family we race lawnmowers and love to fish and just be out side. Melissa and Kelly, That sounds beautiful. Both of you made no mention of pollution or smog, so it must be clean, crisp air. I love it. It felt like I was reading a fantastic book. Prices in California for housing are expensive-4 bedroom, 2500 sq.ft, 4 car garage with pool-$106,000, how inexpensive. In California-that would go for at least $600,000. I love it!

Tulsa has a little smog in the summer when the wind doesn't doesn't blow - but nothing like I've seen in San Diego and L.A.

Hi kellie, well I am from New Mexico, its really hot sometimes but, right now its raining in the evenings. The gas prices are really high right now. But as for recreation, we have to go into El Paso or Las Cruces. Oh but we have Wet N Wild Waterworld. Its cool I have lived here all my life.

New Mexico is a place I would really like to visit. I want to visit "snow", and the smell of Eucalyptus trees. Maybe, one day, when my oldest is in college, we will begin to travel. Saving money helps. We also want to take a train trip to NY for the Macy's day parade. One day that will happen. I enjoy reading the posts. It's like having pen pals all over the world. Thanks for sharing.

I havent been on in a while...sorry.
I live in Virginia Beach. Summer is VERY hot and humid, Winter is kinda cold and rarely snows, maybe low 30's for the temps. I'm from Ohio, so I'm used to cold and snowy winters.
Gas yesterday was 2.99 but at Shell if you pay at the pump it's 2.89...who ever knew that 2.89 per gallon would be considered CHEAP!!!
Housing Market? Horrible around here, I dont know how couples first starting out can make it, small condo's in a not so great area of town start in the mid 200's! If you want a house...in a decent area, you are looking at a minimum of a price in the 300's, that's a starter! We bought our home 3 years ago, in a desirable area of town and the appraisal has already gone up over 100 thousand...CRAZY!
We dont do too much activity in the summer, tourists! Drive ya crazy when you are a local! LOL We hang out with family alot, the hubby works, I stay home and do the normal mom/wife things. Kinda a boring life, but honestly, I prefer it that way.

I live in Southern Maine. Gets down right freezing in winter, sometimes getting to -30 degrees with the windchill. Starts getting cold about Sept/Oct and doesn't start to warm up again till about the end of April/May. We had a May Northeaster storm this year that dumped 3 days of torrental rain on us and flooded everything. A lot of our roads were washed out and some of the folks on the coast lost their homes. I'm just glad the storm was rain and not snow! Summers are very brief here, only lasting a couple of months. We get a couple of weeks that might get over 95 degrees but for the most part temps in summer average about 75-90 degrees. We like to fish, take walks, picnic, swim, watch videos, and have BBQs. Gas prices average $3.15/gal. right now but I've heard a nasty rumor that they will get around $4.00/gal. by the time summer gets here. Housing market is slow with the average home going for about $199,000-$300,000. People are still expecting to get the high prices for their homes but a realtor I spoke to recently told me that is very unrealistic with the way the market is right now. I like the school my son is in but hate the school my step-daughter goes to (she lives in another school district). We have one dog, a yellow lab named RosieGirl, who just turned 1 yo this month.

Virginia Beach, sounds like my town, Palm Springs, CA-with all the "Snowbirds" in town-it is a nightmare. I think we have gotten accustom to the desert weather. I don't like "humid"-that is when you are sticky and icky-something similar to Florida weather. I loved what Cheryl had to say, the weather is -30 in the winter. You are so lucky. It must really snow in the winter. So, around the holidays-thanksgiving /christmas/hanukkah/ kwanza time-the weather is cold. Gosh, I wish I were there to experience that type of weather. Thanks for sharing, I love reading how other people live. Today, the gas in $3.53-YIKES! My mom in San Francisco, CA told me the gas is $4.37-guess I won't be visiting this summer. Thanks everyone.
