Hey all. Sorry I have been MIA lately. The MOMS Club that I am in I got elected as Secretary (I was the only one running so wasn't much of a choice LOL). So I have been learning the ropes for that. Then also with the MOMS Club we had an End of the Year Banquet (This chapter started in June so it's the end from there). So I had to get a dress and other things to go. It was great. That was not last weekend but the weekend before. Next the 23rd was my birthday. We didn't do a lot but we spent time together as a family and it was nice. This past weekend we went to my SIL and BIL's house because they were having a get together to watch their towns fireworks. Yesterday was a MOMS Club meeting (learning the ropes some more) and today was laundry day so off to the Laundromat I went. I also helped hubby tear down something that was in our year.
All that rambling just to say sorry I have been MIA and hopefully I will be around more. Please for give me :D. |

Hi Jody,
Nice to see you back. We will forgive you!
I had to laugh about being elected as secretary for the Mom's club in your area. I was also elected as secretary, and only one other person was running, but, she was voted as president, so I was the chosen one.
Just wanted to let everyone also know. That I have decided to use a cyber charter school for my DD. So, I hope even though I am not really a homeschooler but, a public school homeschooler, I am still welcome here!

Oh how cool LOL!! Of course you are accepted here :D. You are still involved with your child/childrens learning. Even a non-homeschool parent is welcome here. :D |

Sounds like you have been very very busy Jody! I agree about all parents who are involved in their children's education being welcome. Even parents who send their children to school end up doing more homeschooling than they realize. You can't help it - that's what parents are for! |

Exactly. This group isn't about debating with is and isn't homeschooling. Even parents just interested in homeschooling and just want to learn more about it can join the group :D. We don't turn anyone away :D. |

Kelly, I absolutely agree with you about public school and homework. I always wonder what do they really teach them in school. DD would always bring math homework home, and tell me she doesn't know how to do it. So, I would have to sit with her and help her through it. Than there would be reading, a spelling list, a paper to do to go along with the reading, and than other various work. I think the time I spent HSing her last year I spent the same amount of time teaching her as I did when she was in ps.
I am so anxious to get started this year. But, with it being summer, and all the neighbor kids that DD wants to play with, I will just wait until everyone is back in school, and she won't have her mind on what the rest of the kids are doing. That will make it less frustrating for both of us. |

Don't feel nervous. Trust me you will be fine. That first year is hard but you learn right along with your child/children and you learn what kind of teacher you are and what kind of learner your child/children are. :) |
