Breastfeeding at six months
My six month old (almost seven month old) son, is not interested in food at all. I have tried to offer it couple of times a day and I have tried different foods. He still wants to breastfeed every couple of hours. Any suggestions or is this norm, do some babies take longer to get an interest in food. He has also been teething could this be the cause of his disinterest in food.

That is fine. Solid foods before 1 year old aren't even nutritionally necessary, just a social thing. If he isn't interested, I would back off and wait until he shows an interest. With my now 16 month old, I wasn't even going to try to start solids until she was about 9 months old, but in her case, she decided to start when she was 7 months old. I was eating a sandwich one night and she got MAD that I wasn't sharing. I got a banana and mashed it up for her and she happily ate it. She's been a good eater ever since and has never even had baby food, which has saved me a ton of money too. She started when she was ready, so she could handle food food (if that made any sense).

Thats how my daughter was. I just offered baby food periodically but she was exclusively BF for like 13mos! Now she is a great eater! LOL But all she wanted was breast milk for the entire year. Maybe try mashed up food cause my daughter didn't like baby food ever. My current baby is 3mos and I don't plan to even introduce food till she is about 9mos and if she is like her sister she may not take it then. LOL

Hi! My youngest is 9 1/2 months now and he still eats every two hours during the day and at night. He wakes up to eat every few hours. I am breastfeeding and I keep introducing solids, but his interest fades. i think I will wait until a year. The doctor has told me that breastmilk is the best form of nutrition and he does not need additional nutrition until a year. Take it slow and if you worry do ont hesitate to ask someone.

Thank you for you replies. It's good to know that I can just relax and let him choose when he is ready to start solid foods.

My daughter is almost 7 months too. She also seems to not be into the solids like I expected. Some days she LOVES solids and the next, not so much. I would say as long as he seems satisfied, there is probably nothing to worry about.
