| Hi everyone. My son just turned 13 about a week and a half ago. How exciting. He's an only child, which i don'k know if its good or bad. Is anyone in Phoenix, Az.. We've been here almost a year and still really don't know hardly anyone. If anyone has kids his age, and would maybe like to meet up sometime, please let me know. It'd be nice for us both. Laura. |

Hi Laura! I'm not in the Phoenix area but wanted to address your only child situation.
I was an only child and as an adult looking back, I wouldn't have changed a thing. Even as a child I saw the difficulties my friends had with their siblings and was glad I was missing out on that.
I now have three children, ages 23, 16, and 12. The oldest one was raised by his dad and step-mom in a one-child household and has no regrets. The younger two have their occasional problems and jealousies but get along for the most part. Both of them have at times expressed the desire to be an only child, but there are also days my 12yo daughter has expressed the desire to have a younger sibling (NOT happening!).
I think having one child is a good option for couples who want that. What does your son think about it? |

| HI there.. Well, I hadn't planned on him being an only child, it just kind of worked out that way. He wishes he had an OLDER sister to bug, but, knows that can't happen.. hehe. He doesn't really think about it a whole lot. He'll occassionally express siblings, but, i don't know that he thinks about it a whole lot to be honest. |

Hi Laura,
I just joined the group today. I am a single dad of two ages 10 and 12. We currently live in Scottsdale but are moving to Glendale by the end of the month. Not far from Phoenix so if ya ever wanna meet up or something let me know :) |
