Hi Erica! You should be really proud of your progress. It's never too late to start an exercise plan or a diet. Just take it slow. |

Hi Erica and welcome to the group! Care to share how you lost the 20 lbs? Was it just diet, calorie counting, exercise? My goal is to lose 20lbs. I've started to change my eating habits a little, just can't get my butt going on the exercise part.

Erica - that 20 lb loss is nothing to sneeze at! 175 is a lot healthier than 195, so that's good progress! Five years ago in Weght Watchers I lost 20 lbs, and I was able to keep it off all those five years, which just showed me that I can reduce my weight and keep it down. |

WELL I WALKED LIKE 5 TIMES AND THEN I STARTED TO WATCH THE FIT CHANNEL AND DO GILAD I ALSO COUNTED CALORIES AND I KEPT A JOURNAL ON WHAT I ATE EVEN THE BAD STUFF, I ONLY DRINK WATER SO I GET FULLER FASTER, I EAT VERY SLOW, AND IT HELPED TO BUY LIKE HEALTHY CHOICE AND LEAN CUISINE, AND FOR BREAKFAST I WOULD EAT 1/2 CUP OF CEAREAL WITH 1% MILK, SO YEAH I ALSO DID PORTION CONTROL I JUST MIXED IT UP. WHEN I WOULD GO OUT TO EAT I WOULD GET A DIET SODA AND EAT HALF MY MEAL AND SAVED THE REST FOR LATER. RIGHT NOW I HAVE FALLEN OFF SO I PLAN ON GETTIN BASCK TO IT SOON! |

Erica that is so great that you are able to do that. My days get kind of hectic some times with my husbands work hours and just being a mom as I am sure you know. I try to watch my calorie intake. I don't log it in a journal. I do however, try to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. I love flavored rice cakes, and fruit, and vegies. So some times I will have a snack of vegies. I use to think when I was younger that I would never have to diet or watch what I eat. Until I had my daughter and now that is all I do. I miss the days when I could eat a whole bag of dorritos and not gain any weight. Well I hope you are able to get back on your plan, and that we are able to help you out. |

I'm another one that thought I would never have to watch what I ate - but after my thyroid went kaflooey, I ballooned.
Portion control and healthy food choices are what is helping me lose right now. I don't like to eat very much during the day, so I grab a Special K Protein Bar, a bowl of whole grain cereal or a handful of walnuts and berries for breakfast and lunch. I struggle with wanting to eat all evening long, so I have my dinner and dessert all together. Then I know I'm done for the evening and can quit dwelling on what I'm going to eat next. |
