I'm just curious about bedtime routines and what others are doing.
My little guy is now two and in the process of self-weaning. I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant and I think that has a lot to do with it. So our bedtime routine is changing and I began to wonder how other attachment style parents got their little ones to bed.
What time is bedtime? Who puts them to bed? How long do you spend? Where do they sleep? And what is your routine?
I personally have their bedtime at 9pm some people put their kids to bed earlier but I think 9pm is a good time. I put them to bed unless they go to bed by themselves. I only spend a few minutes with them. They sleep in their own bed unless they have a nightmare. when they are a baby I lay them down in their bed and give them a bottle or just lay them in their bed. When they get a little older i usually spend a few minutes reading a book to them. and when they get to be school age I let them watch tv before going to bed
Aubri is 13 months. I nurse her for the final time around 8 or 815. Then she gets a bath around 830, then runs around naked for a while. Eventually gets a diaper, runs around some more ... We try to read a few books ... sing songs ... that sort of thing. Finally I get her jammies on her -- which she hates. (and usually makes her cry a little, which i think helps her realize she's sleepy). Then we find the binkie and take her upstairs and lay her in bed. Her room is always set the same way when we take her up to bed -- She has an air purifier which makes white noise, and the cd player repeats a "sleepy time' cd all night. When we get her up to her room, the sound and the darkness all provide cues which makes her lay down her head on our shoulder. We usually cuddle her a few seconds (I try to keep it brief, but she's so warm and snuggly!), then lay her down more or less awake. We wait by the bed about 30 seconds, then walk out. My goal is to get her in bed by 930 cuz that's when "family guy" comes on tv -- lol!
