Hi!
I'm Steph, SAHM to my wonderful son, Daniel, who is almost two. Danny has slept with us since birth - I spent weeks decorating his nursery, only to realize that there was no way I was letting him sleep without me. :0 ) He never would let me wear him, in a sling at least (I carried him around constantly when he was an infant, and still do quite a bit.)
I loathe explaining to family and friends why my child doesn't have his own bed. I finally got tired of defending myself and started telling people we're concerned that Danny's room is on the other side of the house from ours (we have a ranch,) so we're waiting until we move to put him in his own room. I Know, I know.... :o D
Looking forward to chatting with everyone! |

Hi Steph! Welcome. Isn't it strange the reaction so many have to co-sleeping?
Have you dried carrying Daniel in a backpack-style carried (ergo, beco to name a few)? He may like it since it is more like "piggy-back."
Glad you're here. |

Thanks for the welcome Elena! I actually did try the Ergo baby when he was younger - we wound up selling it on eBay :0) These days, he wants to be down running around and "exploring." I'd rather have him on my back so maybe I'll give the Ergo another try. |

I'll tell you, mine is 18 mo. and 26+ lbs. I love carrying him, but he is ***heavy***!!!
I tend to put him on my hip in my Beco (just like the Ergo just more "fashion-y." That is most comfortable for me.
We're expecting another baby (adoption again) in Aug. and I will probably carry her in a Solarveil mei tai or sling (my sister sells them) and put Xavi in the stroller. I can't imagine carrying both. |

I hear ya! Mine is also 26 lbs. and a wiggler to boot. I like the thought of carrying him around backpack style, though - I could use the exercise anyway. :0)
P.S. Congratulations on your upcoming new addition! I've often thought of adoption, but, my husband says he's too darned old (ha!) |

Don’t let people make you feel like you have to make excuses or explain why you parent the way you choose to parent. I have the same problem with my family. I chose to co-sleep and use cloth diapers and they down all of my parenting choices. I tell everyone that I appreciate their advice, but I’m the one that makes the choices for my children not them and I feel that this is what works for us. They can take it or leave it. Eventually they will leave you alone about it. If you feel better about co-sleeping with your son then your doing a wonderful job as a parent b/c your going with what feels best for you and your family. Good luck!
