Spiritual Battles
Anyone else have first hand experience with spiritual battles??? Especially every time I go deeper into the word or am praying a lot... sorting out the thoughts in my head... is always when it happens, and mostly always in the form of bad dreams...since I was a teenager this has been an issue for me. My grandmother told me when it first started happening that it is a spiritual battle, and that she sensed I was more spiritually connected than most teen agers ... and that I most likely will have this as a struggle all my life... yet not to fear it and continue to pray through it- as that is exactly what the enemy hopes I will not do. He would rather us succumb to the fear that is his and not of God. Just wanting to reach out to anyone else that has gone through or is going through this...~thanks

I have had nightmares where I was falling off a cliff and there was no end to the falling.

I have also had a dream where my daughter was on one side and I was on the other of a door that had no handles.

My daughter closed the door on me and the side she chose was hell. I jumped up out of my sleep crying .

I struggle alot with lust, pride, especially judging people, succumbing to the devils fear

I think that the more often we turn to God, the more we seek Him, the more we try for our marriages and families, that is the most incentive for the enemy to attack. It's a bit encouraging and discouraging at the same time: discouraging that its going to get harder, and that can scare us away and distract us from going back to Him, but encouraging that we are getting somewhere and the enemy finds us such a threat. he loves to break up families, because he hates them, and sometimes we really have to struggle to remember that, especially when we are frustrated with our spouses or kids.
Those are some scary dreams, and I have bad dreams but they aren't quite like that. I would encourage you to journal about them, not to dwell but to see patterns of when you have the most and what is going on in your life. Its an amazing thing God gives us, with gifts such as those, even if they are troubling at the same time. I feel, and has been confirmed by others in church, that I have a gift of discernement, which I didn't think much of at first, compared to some of the gifts out there, but now, I really pay attention, to what I feel the spirit is saying to me. God is wonderful!

My husband and I have gone through a lot of spiritual battles, that’s what happens when you are walking with the Lord. What we were taught and really truly works is to bind and lose yourself of the spirit that is attacking you and pray against that spirit for others to really take a strike at the devil. Of course there are a lot of spirits out there that attack us and sometimes you really have to wrestle to figure out which spirit is attacking. It can be confusing and we are still learning but it really does work. Also, for a good read and some encouragement check out www,elijahlist.com. I hope this helps. A lot of people don't know how to deal with spiritual attacks and this really does help and work. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to contact me! :)

I think that you have an advantage just knowing that,that is how the enemy works. When we're moving away from the Lord, the enemy lets up and when we are moving twards God, the enemy pushes harder. There's no perfect formula, but to know that the enemy is real and that he wants to destoy us is a strong advantage. Some peolpe won't even acknowlege that he exsists. As long as we are aware of what can go on, and we focus on the Lord, He can and will get us through anything, after all, He doesn't give us anything that we can't handle.

Samantha;
I understand where you are coming from, it is a scarey feeling when it happens especially when it seems so real. God had me go through a tough battle since my husband was a full-time medic ans gone for 24hrs at a time. I had to get really creative with going to sleep.. I usually take my computer in my room and go to oneplace.com to listen to stories and that helps...hope this helps..Rebee

I have also had dreams since I was very young, one of the most influential and dramatic ones was the feeling that someone was on top of me choking me and I could not breath, I attempted to call for my mother and father but the words would not come out. When I attempted to call on Jesus, whatever was choking me released me and I sat up crying. It really did not feel like a dream, it seemed very real and maybe it was. I have resently seeking the face of God like I never have before and the devil has attempted to bring illness and depression on me as I get more excited about his presence. It is scary at first but the more I rely on God and he takes control of the situation my faith is increase. I recently had a lump in my neck that came out of nowhere, my general prac. sent me to get x rayed and an ultra sound done which confirmed nodules, I begin to annoint and pray over it and when a day if begin to go down and in a couple of days it had totally disappeared! God is good and the more you push through the devils smokescreen, the more you see the awesomeness of God. Be encouraged, God must have something great planned for your life!
