Hi Shannon!
My name is Becky, my family moved here four years ago from MA and we have a 3 yr old girl. You will find a lot for the kids to do here, lots of fun places, museums, clubs and organizations. I don't know where in CA you are from but I bet there was a lot to do there as well, hopefully E TN will suit you. What brought you here? My husbands whole family has migrated one after another to be together. |

Hi becky its so nice to hear back from someone. My finance's job brought us over this way. He works mostly in Kentucky but thought it would be better for us to live in tennessee. It seems like there is a lot to do i just need to learn to find my way around . Just going to the store i already got lost. Is your daughter in a preschool program? |

She goes to morningstar child development center. Check them out @ morningstarchild.com They are on Flickenger lane in Farragut. They are one of 3 pre-schools in town that are acredited. We like it there and I am very cautious with my daughter and would not let just anyone watch her. Being from another state you feel like you are at a loss for people you trust with your children. I know what you mean about getting lost when I first moved here I live in south knoxville wich is very rural and I cried because my cell phone wouldnt work and I was in an area that looked like something out of Texas Chainsaw Masacre. If you need any other recomendations let me know. I feel that I have finally got my bearings after four years and know where more child fun locations are than my sister in law that has been here almost 10 years (her kids whole lives). I get bored easy so I am always looking for something to do with my daughter. |

Thanks for the info on the preschools. It is really nice to have someone to talk to who knows the area. What kind of things do you and your daughter go out and do? Have you guys gotten together and had a playdate yet? In California I work full time and now I am a stay at home mom and would love ideas on what there is to do out here. |

On a regular basis we go to the gym. We go to National Fitness (NFC1.com) because they had the best child care-again I wont trust just anyone! At "The RUSH" I caught an attendent with a room FULL of kids (from under 2 to over 10-which is dangerous in itself) DOING A CROSSWORD PUZZLE! I don't know how close you are but we go to the one on Tazwell Pike-we arent close to it, I just love the girls in the childcare. My daughter is clingy and cries for at least a minimum of 5 min and they hold her the whole time, we had only gone a couple of times and they knew exactly who we were. We go to McDonalds to share a salad and she plays on the big slide thing while I page through a magazine and RELAX, she never let me do that until she found something she likes to do and I can't join her. Our gym has a deal with "court south" and they have a gigantic pool we can go to we are going to start going there. OH!!! The absolute BEST thing here for kids in the summer is this FREE sprinkler park called the "Splash Pad" it is off NorthShore Dr. it has all kinds of sprinkler pipes and crazy dump buckets, it's fun. Every once in a while we go to a bounce house, sprout studio, or Chuck E Cheese. There is also a place kids can take art lessons in maryville. We go to museums, we have a lot of them here, my favorite is the art museum hers of course is the childrens museum in Oak Ridge. We have never had a play date before but seeing we are both looking for our children to make new friends maybe we should let them play together. Just let me know what part of town you are near (I don't know how long you have lived here but knoxville is set up in north, E, W, and South) and I will find something close by. |
