I've been watching my friend cloth diaper for the past year and have asked her more questions than you can imagine. When our first arrived in December with only THREE DAYS notice (we adopted him), we just didn't have the money, time, or energy to do cloth diapers.
Two weeks ago, I finally convinced my husband to buy me some cloth diapers. We are blessed enough to live near Tree City Diapers (www.treecitydiapers.com) in Ann Arbor, and that's where we bought our diapers. I love it because several stay-at-home moms started the website, and it became so popular that they opened up a small store that is open three days a week. The moms take turn working, and they bring their babies with them. I have been incredibly impressed by them.
We bought the BumGenius (3.0) one size pocket diapers. We chose the one size because we didn't want to have to buy more diapers every time our son grows, and we expect to have too many kids. I wanted the pocket diapers so that I can double stuff them at night so he won't pee through the diapers. I love them! Several of my friends use these ones too.
They are more expensive than the pre-folds, but they are so worth it. I don't have to deal with diaper covers and fasteners at all. I needed something easy enough for both of us to do.
We are starting out with six because my husband disn't think I could do it. (He was so wrong!) However, we are now planning on buying a dozen more to give us a total of 18, which I hear is a good number. We're also getting the diaper sprayer to help with his mushy poo. Once we get that, I'm switching to all cloth wipes as well. I figure that if I'm washing diapers, I might as well wash wipes too :)

Yes, they go on the same way, and they have velcro across the front to secure them. That's one thing I love about them--I can put them on just as easily as disposables! |
