Good heavens! That just makes me tired to READ it!
My goals this week: Walk 30-50 minutes per day 6 days; actually do some strength training exercises Mon, Wed, and Fri, instead of just looking at them on the paper; stay in the calorie range recommended for me by sparkpeople.com. |

Good job. My husband and I walked 11.5 miles Saturday....I won't be doing that again. I now have a blister on my left foot, or until I loose some weight. |

Amanda that is a real long walk wow. I don't think I have been on a walk that long since I was in the Marines. Just remember that you burn a lot f calories when walking. That is why I some times will take my daughter for a four mile walk at a moderate pace. We usually spend about 2 hours doing it so that I burn a descent about of calories. My workout wasn't completely tiring, but it kept my body moving. Kim you say it makes you tired just to look at mine, but you do 30-50 minutes of walking a day. That is a lot of work, just add at the end or the beggining like a stretching routine or maybe a few crunches. It will make your body workout in more then one area manipulating you to lose more weight and inches. Thank you both for participating. |

No prob. I seem to have lost the ability to multi-task a couple of years ago, not that I was ever very good at it. I have the opposite of ADD, I get hyperfocused on things and can't switch gears! |

Wow sounds like everybody is working out long. I only walk 20-30 minutes a day. Sometime I throw crunches in there too. Guess I need to up it a bit or shall I say push myself harder. I only weighed myself once a week. Today was the day. Only lost 4 oz. which could have been clothes or anything. Nothing off the waistline. This is the beginning of week 3 for me. I feel like I am working hard but not much results. Naomi, in the beginning did you start with less exercises or go right to what you are doing now? |

Well I started off running 1 mile, but I still did the other aspects of my workout. Now don't get me wrong I don't run everyday. Today my workout consisted of hanging out with my daughter at the park pushing the swing and riding int he swing with her. You have to remember you are working out all the time with a little one. You lift them everyday, you walk with them, you may rick them. I just watch more of what I eat on days that I don't workout. I try to get at least 3-4 days of actual workout material. However I was in the same boat as you, I didn't lose any weight until my second month and then in one week I lost about 3 pounds. But since then I have only lost about 1 pound. One of the other ladies in here mentioned measuring yourself. I went out and bought a tape measure today. It is hard to see the difference every week, but by measuring your bust, waist, and hips might show you more results. And remember I am a former Marine so my workout right now is minimal to what I use to do. I don't ever plan on working that hard again since I have bad knees now. Keep up the progress and only do what you feel comfortable with. 10-20 minutes here and there is a workout. As long as you are watching the amount of calories you will lose weight. |

I'll go 1-2 weeks with no weight loss sometimes, only to lose a lot at once! Also, if you are building muscle while you are losing fat, you may not lose at all. So check you inches and appearance as well as the scale. |

Monday I did a step&sculpt class for 1 hour. Then, I lifted weights for 45 minutes. Today I went to another step class for 1 hour. Tomorrow I'm planning to lift weights for another 45 minutes and do another 1-hour class on Thursday. I work all day Friday and the whole weekend. So I won't be able to exercise again unitl Monday. For the moms who cannot go to the gym, the elastic bands are a great way of working out the muscles. All the classes that I have attended use them. They are fairly inexpensive and there are so many exercises you can do with them. In addition, I really like doing crunches on those balls. I can really feel my abdominal musclesafterwards. |

I finally got out to walk after several straight days of rain, and it was good to get out. My BFF and her SIL and nephew went with us, so we had a good time talking - sure makes the time go faster!
I'm doing very well with staying within the calorie range sparkpeople.com has given me. If I can ever get below 170 we're going to have to have a little internet party! |

When is the most accurate time to weight yourself? In the afternoon I am 5 lbs. heavier than when I just wake up and weigh myself. I don't know if I am the 5 lbs. lighter or heavier. |

It's not so much when during the day you weigh, as doing it consistently at that time and on the same scale each time you weigh.
I weigh undressed, after breakfast, before lunch, on my bathroom scale.
I too have noticed that my weight fluctuates throughout the day. After all, the weight of the food and beverages that you consume are added to your weight, until some calories get burned off to offset the gain. Even drinking water - if you consume large amounts of it, as I do (up to 2 quarts in 30 minutes) will increase your weight intially, just because of it's own weight. As your body assimilates it, uses it, stores it, and eliminates it, that weight drifts away.
To watch the trends in your weight, always be consistent with how you are dressed and what time of day it is. Many experts recommend that you NOT weigh more than once a week. I'm not that good; I weigh three or four times a week. |

Hey Kim,
Best time to weigh yourself would be in the morning, after you used the bathroom.

Hi Naomi. The YMCA does provide childcare. The registration fee was $120 and we pay $78/month for a family of 2 adults plus children. They have very modern weight lifting equipment and the staff are very helpful. They also have so many classes to choose from. I'm looking forward to having Elijah do swimming classes once he turns 6 months. I did miss class on Thursday morning this week because Elijah ended up waking up twice at night and he also had a cold. I was really tired! I tried to rest so I could go to work. |
