Summer book club
Ladies,

We already have the polls set for the June book of the month and I would like us to pick a June book but I want to know if you are all still interested in continuing with the same format for the months of July and Augest. I know that this is a busy time in family life and there are alot of vacations and so on. We can suspend the book club picks for those two months and resume with the book club in September. During the hiatus we can list some summer beach reads, favorite magazines or whatever we would like. Please let me know what you all think.

For me, summer doesn't cut down my reading time (I just try to do more of it outside), so I'd be happy to keep going with the current format.

I'm up to anything. I do alittle more reading durning the summer by the pool or at the shore home. So I can go either way .

I must say I was every good with May's book I think I am busier at the end of the school end with all the end of the school yr stuff. like field trips , feild day, exams summer sports start to kick in. ( ect....)

So I looking forward to June's book.

I just had another idea that may increase group participation. What about the possibility of having TWO books of the month. People can read one or both, whichever suits them better. The discussion can be more participant led, like with Poison Study, so it wouldn't be more work for Kyleen. Since a lot of people actually have more time to read in the summer, it might not be a bad time to try it out.

I was actually thinking that would be a great idea, a month is a long time for just one book, I would be willing to try it for the summer and if it works out then we can continue it in the fall as well.

I think that we should read two books in the summer.

Well this sounds like a plan, now the only thing to figure out is how we want to do this, since the polls only gives us one option we can go with the two books with the largest votes? Or I can list all four books and everyone can choose the two that they want to read and then just have an open forum for the last week where everyone can tell us about the books they read and start discussions?

I was envisioning that the top two picks would be the "official" books for the month. I think 4-5 selections to vote from for July would be ideal as well.

That sounds great to me, there will be three books automatically left from this months vote and then we can add two more to the vote. The top two picks will be the two suggested reads and then we can have a more participation oriented discussion.

Woo hoo!

Any ideas on how to encourage more people to vote, still only 5 votes and the last few months only 4 or so each month and we are well above 30 members....

I like the idea of two books. I hope to have more time this summer to read since we can be outside and my mom is home to help with my daughter. I was unable to get the May book of the month but that is ok because I was so busy. Can't wait for the next ones.

Yes thats a good idea.2 at a time.either/ or.Where Donna and I go to get books we go on a waiting list and sometimes it can take weeks for us to get a book.It took me 3 months to get 1 book.
