Hi Jessica - sounds like are "due" to lose a few with the rest of us! You can write down your own schedule. If you need help on how much to lose, what kind of nutrition, what kind of exercise and how much you can look at sites like realage.com, sparkpeople.com, or buddyslim.com.
I'm opposite from you - I can't stick to a schedule to save my life. I eat when I'm hungry; exercise as early in the day as I can, but have to set time to wake up; and pretty much just do what occurs to me at the moment the rest of the time! |

First of all Jessica let me take a moment to welcome you to our growing family. It seems that our group is getting bigger and bigger every day. That is great. You are in the same boat as the rest of us, except you probably look better than I do seeing as how you have 4 inches on me and I am at 145. I know that comment probably hurt, but some times it takes a comment like that to get us into motion. I know my father actually told me that I was big the last time he saw me and I was like wow my dad actually just said that. It was a sort of reality check. I am not trying to be a skinny minny any more, now I am just trying to lose 20 pounds so that I can be at a healthy weight so I can keep on moving with my wild little angel. You should maybe take a minute out of your day and write down exactly how your schedule works, and then see where you can fit in 15-20 minutes. Don't try to rush it as I am sure you have read, results are not instant. As horrible as it sounds. We will lose the weight and we can all do it together. If you feel compelled we can try something I was thinking about. This would all be based on a trust issue and this is for everybody. If you wanted at the end of everyday we can tell eachother what we did as far as excercise for the day exchange tips and ideas, and we can work together even though we may live in different places. Just an idea. Let me know what everybody thinks. I hope you find everybody in here as helpful as I have. |

Hi Jessica. Welcome to the group. I'm 5'3" and 147 lbs now. I gained 50 lbs with my son. I lost 20 lbs the first two weeks he was born. Now the remainder 30 lbs are coming off very slowly. It took me 6 weeks to lose 3 lbs. I do hope that I'm putting on some muscle since I started working out. If you are a schedule person, you just need to make some time to exercise. I got to classes at the YMCA. I don't have anyone to work out with so I figured it out that classes are the best way to keep me motivated and not bored. The classes are one hour long but they feel a lot shorter than that. I know that we all have so many things to do everyday. There will always be dishes to be washed, laundry and other chores to be done. You just have to figure out what's more important to you. I hated the fact that I can't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy clothes. I had to go buy new clothes because I had nothing to wear. I refused to continue to wear my maternity clothes since I'm no longer pregnant. I agree with Naomi that sometimes we need a wake up call in order to do something about it. Just start slow and take your time. Remember that it took nine months to gain the weight so it will take a while to lose it. That's what I keep trying to tell myself. I think Naomi's idea is great. We should let each other know how each week went and how we are progressing. I also keep a card that has my chest, arm, waist, hips, and thighs measurements. At the end of every month I measure them and compare to see how I did. It keeps me motivated to see me lose anything, even 1/2 inch. |

Monique that is a great idea I didn't even think about measuring. It is so true that you can see results in other places then the scale. I am going to go and buy a measuring tape tomorrow. Thanks for the tip. |

OK since we are being brutally honest here, I am 5'1, 25 years old and weigh 137 lbs. The sad thing about it is I weight 140 full term pregnant. I lost a bunch and then noticed the scale started going back up. I pretty much ignored it for too long (1 year). Then a few weeks ago someone asked when I was due. I felt my face turn bright red. I always seemed to ignore being overweight but after that it hit me that everyone else sees me like that too. I think it is a great idea to keep tabs at what we have been doing for exercises. I know you have to keep your heart rate up for at least 20 minutes, but right now I can't seem to run for a whole 20 minutes and if I walk fast my heart rate just seems to slow down. I am not sure how to tell if it is still going fast enough or not. Any ideas? |

Don't worry about that heart rate mumbo jumbo as long as you are working out and eating healthy you will lose the weight. So many people put these stigmas in our heads that get us so caught up in trying to loose weight fast. I have been doing a little program for myself and it is working so far. Lets just say for today what I did was I ran 1 mile straight and then did 100 crunches I then did another mile, but I ran .20 and walked.10 all the way until the end, at the end you will walk .10 and run .10, however, it works your body out quite well. On other days I will do a few lifts with my arms at the lowest weight setting. Here is a website that I found today that has a lot of helpful hints and some great recipes. Check it out. www.lowfatlifestyle.com |

I'm 5'1" (Hi! Kim) and 171 right now. When I started this I was 180. A little work, some good nutrition, and a positive attitude go a long toward getting those pounds off.
My husband asked me if I wanted a hamburger and fries for dinner. I said, "If I'm gonna get skinny, I can't eat that." My BFF brought up the fact that I was really tired today when I told her I was going walking. I told her I had been sitting around just thinking about being skinny, and felt the urge to go walking! lol |

Don't forget that you can still eat the foods you love, just in moderation. I have traded regular burgers for turkey burgers. I got a recipe off line that included worscherstier sauce (however you spell it) absolutely delicious, and I don' even need cheese on it. Just a little light mayo and ketchsup. Very delicious. Now the fries are a different story, you can make homemade french fries that you bake, I am sure they would come out fabulously and they would have less fat and calories. Okay all this food talk is making me hungry and I just ate breakfast. Don't skip meals and think that is going ot help you lose weight. eat smaller meals several times a day to boost your metabolism. |

Great job Kelly on losing those 9 lbs. I think the first few and the last pounds are the hardest to lose. I'm excited that you are doing so well. I try to stay away from fast food as well. However, every now I have a craving for french fries. Now that I'm working out regularly, I don't want to eat as much because I know how hard I would have to exercise in order to burn the calories from those fries. |

Hi Everyone..I'm Dorothy, I'm new to the site and just reading all your messages has given me a lot to go on. Thanks for the websites Kelly. I'm gonna have to check them out. My son is 15 months and I still need to loose some weight. I gained nearly 50 pounds with him and most of it gone...but I have about 10 pounds to go. I am 5 feet and I weigh 131. It's hard when you are short because every single pound shows...but I know I can do it especially knowing that I am not alone. Aloha! |

Thanks for the warm welcome. I do 2 miles of walking or jogging a day. Depending on my mood...I do more or less. I watched what I ate but I have hit a plateau, these last 10 pounds have been hard to loose....I also think I am really not going anywhere because I'm not trying hard enough. So when I stubbled on this group...I had to join. It's a work in progress...plus I've always had a problem with weight...I have never been really skinny..my lowest weight in my adulthood has been 120. If I loose another 5 pounds...I'll be happy. |
