I was hoping to get some tips on weaning my 1 yr. old daughter from the bottle to the sippy cup for milk. She does great with the sippy cup for both juice and water, but completely refuses it for milk. I tried a few days ago to do it cold turkey and she just refused all day to drink it. So therefore I'm sure it is what ended up making her constipated and waking up during the night. Her daycare provider says she is going to be a difficult one to wean to the cup. Any hints would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Lol my daughter is stubborn too, and also choose to only take a few ounces all day. Then woke up all night long. (I tried for 3 days) My ped. said that as long as she is off the bottle by 15months thats fine. Mackenzie (my daughter)is 14months today and we are slowly weaning. Up until now she has had 4bottles a day. Today I'm going to give her the bottle in the am and right b4 bed, the other 2 she will get a cup. We will see how well this works and hopefully with in the next 4 weeks she will be off completely. Just wanted to let you know, you're not alone in this! Good Luck and let me know if you find a way that works :)

First of all what kind of cup are you using? I found when doing this with m son I had to try different types of cups we went through 3 before we found one he liked. We also gave him breakfast and milk or juice in a cup all day and then at night a bottle until got used to the cup about a week that took. Then we had to go cold turkey at night with the bottle. Dr. said as long as he was getting food and other liquids during the day it wouldn't hurt him to go cold turkey for a week or so which is what it usually takes to get them totally on the cup, each child is different how ever. You might also try putting just a lil bit of strawberry or choc flavoring in the milk i the cup that might work as well. Good luck..

Bring her to Babies R Us and check out some cool sippy cups...buy 3 or 4 different kinds and when it comes time to drink milk, give her the choice of "milk" cup....let her decide and she'll feel more in control.

Thank you everyone for your advice. However, my daughter, whom never ceases to amaze me, just started using the sippy cup for milk yesterday. The only thing we can figure out is she was at daycare and all the other kids were drinking from their cups. After an extremely frustrating weekend, who knew it would be that easy?! I guess children will always keep us guessing.
