Hey! I am a mom to a very energetic 18mth old little boy!! I am struggling with him as my whole family is made up of females!! lol I love him to death and am very blessed to be able to raise him from home (http://www.khrysti.freedomunitedteam.com) I have to say, staying home and raising your kids is the best thing! I love that I am in control and that I get to see and teach him all the new things! Yet we are still dealing with him hitting and "lashing" out when he doesnt get his way..... ??? Any thing I can do to change that?? |

Did anyone respond to your question? I have a 15 month old that likes to throw his toys at me, the cats, or my husband when he doesn't get his way. He also pitches a fit when he gets disciplined. Sometimes I'll put a peek-a-boo blanket over his head and say "Where's the happy face, I don't want to see the ugly face." Sometimes I have to repeat it a couple of times, but usually if it is just a protest, he is laughing when he takes the blanket off.
As for the hitting, he gets the verbal warning and then I firmly grab his hand to stop. If he does it again, he is removed from the situation. I've started this with his toys too - just he gets removed from the toys and put in time out for 60 seconds. I just started the latter, but the hitting problem has improved. It's not totally gone since he gets too excited sometimes, but I try to anticipate him and remind him before he does it if I can.
If you find out anything else, pass it on. Thanks. |
