I just joined this group. I have always wanted to home school, but after marital difficulties I have had to go back to school full time myself. I tried public school for my oldest this year (1st grade) and dont want to do that again. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for what I can do with my two oldest (6 and 7) while Im in class next year if I decide to homeschool. Grandma has offered to watch them a couple days a week, but is very unorganized and couldnt help with the learning.
Thanks, Stephanie |

| Do you go to school full time? Homeschooling can take place any time really though. It really depends on how you want to homeschool them (there are many different ways to homeschool). It can be as organized or not as organized as you would like it. Homeschooling doesn't necessarilly mean school at home. Here is a site that will tell you a little more about each way. http://www.home-school-curriculum-advisor.com/home-schooling-method.html Remember too that you don't have to do one type of homeschooling 100% of the time. It's what works best for you and your family and that can be a varity of different ways. Sorry I couldn't answer you in a better way. It really is up to what is right for your family and what works for you. :D Welcome to the group! Please feel free to ask any questions you might have! |

A friend or family member might be the best idea. But I wouldn't get my heart set on having much help with the homeschooling from them unless they are highly motivated to do that.
In one town I was in, a child care center allowed younger homeschool students to stay for child care, but did no homeschooling with them. However, their time there was spent doing challenging and interesting things. Home daycare is another option. But, of course, daycare does cost something.
I didn't have the support to homeschool my kids when I when back to college, but if you can find a way to do both, that would be a really wonderful situation. |

| Oh yeah! If there is a homeschooling association near where you live, you might make an arrangement with another homeschooling family. |
