Hello Everybody,

Thank you for the warm reception. My name is Amarie. I have a 13year old diva-in-training Lisa lol. and a 8month old son, Izzy. We live in New York City. I decided to join Parents of Teen because I am well, a parent of one:). And boy is it a challenge.

My daughter loves the "current" idea of being a big sister but the age difference is difficult. Both the love they have for each other as siblings is unbreakable.

Being an only child myself, I will never know what that is like, but I am glad my daughter will experience this unique bond for herself.

I love to make jewelry, read, surf the net. My daughter is into online games, Harry Potter, and other fastasy/mystery books. Advid CSI fan lol!! fashion design, community service, cheerleading, volleyball and swimming.

Izzy is into, well everything he can crawl to lol!!

Anyway, glad to meet you guys. Say hello when you can.

Hi! I too have a diva in training. She's 11 and, in fact, going to a Girl Scout Camp session for a week called Dance Divas! Mine is baby crazy because in late October she's going to be an aunt (I'm going to be a grandma!). She loves anything to do with teeny-bopper music and celebrities. She sings all the time and plays at playing the guitar and keyboard.

We have a lot in common, because I too am an only child, and this sibling stuff just mystifies me. Like - why on earth would Rachel be so thrilled that she gets to go to a baseball game with the Girl Scouts and her brother doesn't and he's going to be disappointed? Why is that funny?

What's really funny is I'm thinking about taking him at the same time the Girl Scouts go!

Talk to you later!

OMG my daughter is the same way. She is in love with her little brother. And protective ...gee wiz, sometimes I cant feed him w/o her looking over my shoulder to see if I am doing it right LOL!!

And please with the celebrity stuff she is the same way, she calls herself Dean's Wifey" from the TV show "Supernatural"_CW11. but otherwise she is a typical teen. Posters on the wall, music loud in her room, on the phone for hours at a time, etc. I remember when Lisa was 11 she was a little different than she is now, but since she turned 13....wow she has a lot more attitude than I am comfortable with at times, and I can do w/o the sarcasm just a bit LOL. My friend told me that teens at this age turn into lawyers on you, everything is a debate, or a well thought argument. LOL!!

Otherwise she has become way more responsible, socially conscious, and concerned about the environment. She's a cool kid.
