Any advice

We have a male main coon who is 7 years old an has been the baby of the family, now we have a 8month old girl an kitters is so jealous an wonts to hurt the baby. I cant leave my daughter in the room with him cause im afraid of what he may do.We are to the point of finding another home for him. But if there is a chance that the he could get used to the baby that would be great. Does anybody have advice on how to get the cat used to our daughter or is it a lost cause an we should just find another home for him?
