Nobody understands what we go through. I've had people say things to me that would probaly shock you. I am 21 years old. I have a step-son that is 6 years old. So when he was born I was 15 years old. i didn't meet him until I was 16. When we'd go to the park ALL the mothers told there children to stay away from us. I don't care the age of a mother. Nobody should keep their children from playing with the young mothers children. No matter what or where you go it will be hard. I went to storytime at my library and try to meet other young mom's. I go to the park alot now and people still say are they BOTH yours? Then they say oh.. your so young. I always tell them I like to keep up with my children. It makes them shut up fast. good luck :-) |

I am 24 and have the same problem. whenever my son and i go to the park, all the other mom's seem to be so stuck up to me. i really want my son to be able to interact with other kids but the mom's make me not even want to go to the park! |

Hello. I'm in Michigan too. I belong to some moms groups and sometimes we go places and we tried to keep to us for safety. you could ask what kind of group and try to join the group. Many moms comes to us and ask and then they joined the group. Well , sorry that happend to you and your little one. I'm in Novi area, it is a little far to play together.

I live in CT, and i have never really had this problem, usually the other parents at the park are really nice, my daughter usually only goes on the swings, but when another parent with a child the same age comes over we usually get into a conversation. I have only had one person act different, and it was when i was buying a car from a friend of a friend, and i said something about having to feed the baby before i could meet him. but he wasnt really rude, just shocked i guess. I dont really blame him, i think it is just that most people are waiting longer to have kids so people are maybe a little more skeptical. i mean if a 13 year old girl came to the park with her 1 year old son... wouldnt you feel a little wierd too? also people dont know how young you are, just that you look young, they could maybe assume that you are younger than you actually are. But i do like that line, i like to keep up with my kids... i wish someone would say something like that to me just so i could use it. lol |
